Sad to report that my entire collection of vintage Gillette razors has been nicked.
These were all boxed 'as new' Gillette fat boys and slims - some rare toggle ones and boxed gold plated Aristocrats. They represented years of enjoyable collecting. I'd say about 20 in total, I don't have a single one left apart from one 'Tech' in the bathroom.
The only person who was in my cellar who could have nicked them was an electrician - I can't prove it, so can't accuse him to his face.
Pretty upsetting - but nothing I can do.
That's terrible, you don't have to accuse the electrician or anybody just call the police and they ask the questions. These were all boxed 'as new' Gillette fat boys and slims - some rare toggle ones and boxed gold plated Aristocrats. Any of you guys still use the Gillette sensor excel blades, it's the old two blade set up. I have tried all the other triple , 5 blade set ups but still find the sensor excel blades by far the best for a smooth clean non grippy of the stubble shave.
They have been going for what, 30 yr ??

I have four blades left from my last multi-pack order over a year ago and I have settled on Astra Platinum - I've ordered 50 for £6 from eBay which will last me well over a year.
Other new products:
ToOBS luxury shaving cream; a 'soapy' scent but very pleasant
ToOBS No.74 Original fragrance
D.R. Harris Arlington aftershave
I am still using and happy with the EJ 3D razor.

I fancy a change...
Any suggestions for a new daily razor?
I have quite a few old gillettes (60s/70s), one of the 'new' King C Gillettes (don't like the handle) and a couple of others but they're all much of a muchness.
Nothing too aggressive, I've been using Muhle R89 and Merkur 34C and they're okay but usually need three passes to get really close.
I have Muhle R41 which I've found to be too aggressive for me, same with ES Braveheart.
What's recommended/popular between the 'mild' 89/34C and the 'aggressive' R41?

I like the Muhle 'Rocca' range (R94/95/96 - same razor head different handles) Bit more expensive as stainless steel, not alloy. In between the R89 and R41Any suggestions for a new daily razor?

I always found the vintage Gillette 'Tech' razor to have the perfect gap. Not expensive and there's some NOS out there.Any suggestions for a new daily razor?

Funnily enough, that’s what I used this morning. I have both a steel and aluminium tech and used the aluminium one. Enjoyed it but fancy something a bit different.I’ve since ordered a Parker semi-slant. We’ll have to see how that works out.

There are many variants of the Tech, but the gaps are consistent - I really like them, very well made and amazing to think they were $3 items back in the day. I generally preferred the steel version, bit more heft.I’ve since ordered a Parker semi-slant. We’ll have to see how that works out.
A Fatboy or Slim would be my next choice after a Tech....
I grew a beard during Covid 1, so am not shaving. Beard trimmers are now the thing
Heh. When I do the beard thing these days, I look like father christmas - with dark fu manchu 'tache. Not a good look.
First impressions, the Parker semi-slant is pretty good. It's longer and heavier than my usuals, but handles well. Only used it once so far, and took it slow. Quite aggressive, but no drama. Two passes plus ATG on cheeks and very happy. Decided to do my head with it too - a bit more awkward as the length and weight don't play well with my technique. Took a while but a very close shave nonetheless.
Hopefully, as I get more familiar with it it will pay dividends.

Any tips/advice on how to stop these tiny red bumps on my neck that appear 1-2 days after a shave?
Routine.... wash face with cold water and soap and pat dry, apply some Wilkonsword shaving soap with my brush, shave with single blade razor (shaving area is 2 fingers above the adams apple down the neck, the other areas are trimmed with electric shaver), rinse shaving soap off with cold water, pat dry again and apply NIVEA soft moisturising cream.
Could it be the budget products? Especially the post shave cream, is there a difference between 3 quid nivea and a proper post shave balm? (i guess there is...)

i always shave in the shower, loads of hot steam going on and i never get shaving rash. Single blade razor... is it a disposable Bic style or DE Safety razor?Routine.... wash face with cold water and soap and pat dry, apply some Wilkonsword shaving soap with my brush, shave with single blade razor (shaving area is 2 fingers above the adams apple down the neck, the other areas are trimmed with electric shaver), rinse shaving soap off with cold water, pat dry again and apply NIVEA soft moisturising cream.

I'd guess too much pressure; don't be in a rush - take your time and take two or three light passes, in different directions. Let the weight of the razor and blade do the work.
Also, don't pat dry before applying lather - water helps lubrication.

Everyone has their own technique but I never have a shaving rash using this method.Routine.... wash face with cold water and soap and pat dry, apply some Wilkonsword shaving soap with my brush, shave with single blade razor (shaving area is 2 fingers above the adams apple down the neck, the other areas are trimmed with electric shaver), rinse shaving soap off with cold water, pat dry again and apply NIVEA soft moisturising cream.

Wash your face and neck with very warm water and good soap, leave it wet. Lather up some shaving soap on a brush (Wilkinsonsword is ok but you can do better, try Cella for example next time)
Not sure what you mean by single blade razor, if it is a disposable razor upgrade to a double edge razor and a good blade such as Dorco. Use this razor for all your neck and face, leave the electric razor alone. Rinse thoroughly. No issue with your cheaper post shave, I go cheaper still with baby lotion and sometimes some Q10 cream from Lidl.

And now... Rockwell 6S 'adjustable'/interchangeable has arrived.
Ordered Monday evening, delivered midday today.
I shaved before I went out last night, so I'll need a day or twos growth before I can try it out.
Nice! I had a steel variant of that - an interesting way of adjusting which I really liked.Ordered Monday evening, delivered midday today.
