Flooding then. 7 posts in quick succession is spamming / flooding.

Everything I say is with a bit of humour, hence the winks and smiles. Before anyone gets defensive.
So it's ok to call someone a so long as you put a smiley on the end? Maybe you should have a look at the posting rules.

Also, you are far less funny than you think you are.

Hold on a minute, I had left this thread and once again tried to do it in a nice way. But I have got to pull you up on that.

I called myself a sad , not anyone else.

It is a thread about geeks, I class myself as a bit of a geek, I said my level of 'geek' had not reached where it needed to be to post in here yet and so I must try harder to become more of a sad .
It was said with tongue firmly in cheek taking the piss out of myself.

You're right, I thought this thread was light hearted, but seems unless 'you're in with the in crowd' you can stay out.
I take that on board and will do.

the IRC chat posts were funnier than the moaning that followed.

I stumbled across those again in an old bookmark on a laptop I found, and reminded me of the hours we spent on EFnet, nearly 20 years ago now, and thought it might be nice to post the first half a dozen. I just thought if anyone had been a heavy EFnet user back in the day they might appreciate the sort of numpties you would get on there.

I was not expecting to be quite so berated. Thought someone might have said 'They have been posted ages ago mate.'.

Ho hum. Silly me, it is of course Pistonheads.

Why will we confuse tomorrow with Christmas?

For most of us 31Oct is 25Dec.

Yes, a repost, but topical none the less.

Some of them made me smile.

And much funnier than 99% of the "I work in IT" "in jokes" that seem to fill this thread...

Some Boffins with Jokes was on last night, before Buzzcocks. It's on iPlayer. I hadn't seen this one before, I had seen the Some Jews tell jokes ones though.

Can anyone explain this joke from Some Boffins?

I didn't get it so perhaps there is some nuance I am missing, but as best I recall it went.

"What do you get if you put a black hole in a indestructible dustbin?"

"It takes off."

We recorded that the other night and watched it last night - after I'd read the article above.

I gave the punchline out before the boffin did, and she gave me the "how the hell did you know that?" look.
