Cool.

How many visits does it normally take?

I do it in two.

It can be done in one.

So, usually one or two. Occasionally, it can be more.

That is for the root canal treatment.

Thanks for your help.

Lets hope its not too bad. I'm actually quite scared of the dentist.

Just had the first stage of route canal.

He got the drill out and I said are you not going to inject first, he said you won't feel anything its dead, I said he best be sure of that in other words.

The drilling took literally 15 seconds, then he was doing what could only be described as pulling pipe cleaners through the hole??

Then he put the "medication" in the hole, then filled it temporarily. There wasn't any pain fwiw.

So does that all sound right? He said they will get a crown made and in two weeks I go back and they put a new one on?

The fact that he could do that with no anaesthetic is proof that the tooth was dead or finally died at the end. The pipecleaner was a barbed broach he used to remove the nerve or what was left of it.

Glad it went well for you smile

Should I be able to feel anything now? There is a slight throbbing pain?

And also where the swelling was there is still swelling and if I push it with my finger it hurts a bit, this is the abcess?

Should this not be gone now?

It can be slightly tender for a short while after the root canal treatment.

The tender spot is where the abscess was, and it may take a couple of days to feel better.

Brilliant. Never ending isn't it!

Do you think just painkillers to make me forget about it?

It feels like he drilled through the bottom of the tooth, but at the back as opposed to the front.

I still can't figure out why it would hurt at all if there was no nerve?

Yep, painkillers should do it. He would have drilled down into the nerve cavity from the rear of the tooth.

He removed the nerve but he didn't remove the nerve that that nerve was connected too and that can be irritated along with the ligament around the tooth from any root treatment.
