Contact lenses for high Rx - advice please
Discussion
My Rx is
Right: -11.75, cyl +0.50, axis 100
Left: -10.75, cyl +0.50, axis 80
Thanks, I think, to the agreement not to supply "complex" (I don't think my eyes are complicated, just evry short sighted!) lenses on-line by UK opticians I'm finding it hard to come up with any info.
I've had rigid lenses in the past (10-12 years ago) and got on with them sort of OK.... I have quite dry eyes (doesn't bother me as such though) and the lenses would usually rise and drop with each blink, and tended to fall out a bit too easily (once, in lane 3 of the M4 in heavy traffic at night.... ). But otherwise I had no problems wearing them pretty much all day.
I went back to specs, mostly because of the falling out business, but I now ride a motorbike most days and specs are a faff, not to mention the steaming up in the cold and/or wet.
I also hear that the technology has improved somewhat.... but as I said, nowhere seems to list lenses above -10.
Price is probably not a big problem.
No idea what sort of lenses I'd like, given there might be more choice now than between "soft" or "hard" which became "you've got to have hard as your eyes are so bad".
So can anyone in the know tell me if it's worth seeing the optician, or if it would be a waste of both our time?
Thanks in advance

The thing is only one of your eyes will need a lens over -10 and then only just.
There are plenty of new monthly disposables that will fit you just fine. Get yourself along to a decent practitioner and all will be well. Your prescription isn't an issue - I have lenses available up to -30 if I really need them.
