Lack of carbs. What are the symptoms?
Discussion
Ive been on a low carb diet for approx 3 weeks now. For the last week ive been shattered when i get home from work. Bed at 8pm every night etc. More recently i have been a little shakey, dizzieness when standing up and occasional headaches.
checked my blood sugars last night when i got home and they were at 2.8 .
Is this due to lack of carbs or should i just get myself to the gp because i cleary have the big gay moany bh disease?
Any info is appreciated chappees!

Yeah, you feel rubbish because you're not getting enough energy. Your body will be in a state of ketosis. You might feel better if you eat more fat, as that's your primary energy source at the moment.
Other symptoms will be bad breath, constipation (better prevented than cured), potentially sore kidneys (make sure you drink a LOT of water).
Worth consulting a professional.
Cheers,
FT.

Thanks.
Dont know about bad breath myself, but the teeth do feel gritty after eating just about anything.
Constipation hasnt seemed to rear its ugly head just yet. Saying that though im all over the place, i dont have a routine so to speak.
Got sore joints aswell. Could I be coming down with something due to my body not having enough 'energy' to fight off the baddies?
cheers

OP - I'm a diabetic and some of those symptoms are indeed signs due to low blood sugar.
You say you are 2.8, you should be in the 5 - 7 range to be healthy. And seeing as this is a car forum, according to my diabetes consultnat, the legal minimum is 4.0 when driving. Apparently one of her patients is being done by Surrey Police for being too low to drive.
And to make matters worse, the diabetic driver is a copper.

What is your diet exactly? Also it could be a million and one other things other than low carbs.
The answer? Eat high carbs for 3-5 days and see how you feel.
Personally I'm awesome on a low carb diet, tons of energy and I feel very alive and alert which does seem common among people doing it and to top it all my exercise level is very, very heavy.

Diet is mainly Chicken + salad / tuna + salad / steaks or chicken for dinner.
snacks is a pack of cured ham or salami or a few chunks of cheese or peanut butter.
Occasionally have ham and cheese wraps at work due to not having much else to choose from.
Was absolutly fine for the first 2 weeks. Im going to carry on the diet for another week. stop on the 24th.

Sorry for the confusion powerr - wasn't trying to imply you were, just saying that being that low is not legal to drive and the kinda range you should be in.Thats a definate kick in the goolies. Feel for the guy.
