from lack of success on my old thread a new one! lol

i have been feeling somewhat under the weather the past few weeks/months.

many different reasons, started with ball ache, many trips to doctors about different lumps and bumps.

my head has been playing games mainly i think because i sit infront of a 27" mac all day working.

+ i googled my symptoms and made things like 100000 Xs worse...

so i have poor posture and have recently getting dizzy spells kinda... I just put the dizzyness down to poor sitting position and worrying about old issues.

Now i have 2 bumps on my neck on either side in different locations, but on the side of my neck, one hurts and is tender the other is very small and not painful at all...

Should i be worrying? i have seen the doctor who cant even feel them, but i can feel them! i feel some what ill, probably because i have worried myself to that state.

My head feels full of cloud, i just cant think straight due to worrying about all these little things that keep going on with my body, i never every use to give a toss about things like this, but for some reason its just playing with my mind...

Could the lumps just be muscle and arteries and really they are suppose to be there.

I also have a large cyst like lump near my occipital bone on my left side. Could this be the cause, Google says its a brain tumor. which im sure its not, But dosnt stop thoughts going into my head that it is!

Step 1 - Cease googling health conditions. Your Dr has checked you out and found nothing, bear this in mind the next time you feel like checking if that muscle spasm was a stroke or your indigestion is a massive heart attack.

Step 2 - Read the link below and start to explore the ideas and concepts it raises.

There's a saying amongst doctors:

'Common things are common'

Yes, there's an outside chance you have something hideously fatal wrong with you, but the common mundane stuff is far more likely.

GP's occasionally miss things, but when you think how many people all the GP's in the UK see each day they're pretty reliable.

You need to quit worrying and get on with your life. GP's also talk about 'heartsink patients': you need to make sure you don't become one. wink

eta Having just read your previous thread I'd say you need some help. I'd suggest counselling or a similar talking therapy to try to get to the root of your anxiety problem.

I'd be amazed if there's anything physically wrong with you. You're 21, FFS. Do me a favour and go and look at the patients in your local hospital (Hint: they're almost all a lot older than you). Talk to someone appropriate about your worries, and enjoy your life.

Point taken, i need a chill pill for sure, it's just been a stress this year so far.
i know i need to enjoy life to the max as it's short, that is what I'm trying to do. But it seems every time i get to that point i end up having a new physical symptom of something...
i know the mind plays tricks and i spend way to much time I'n my office alone, so could easily be the issue of to much thinking time.
thanks for the replys mind.

I'd avoid reading the Daily Mail too!

I sympathise.
I saw my gp about three times in about 12 years.

Then in December I gave up smoking, had a spell of much increased anxiety, but I was gatting physical symptoms also, which compounded the problem.

First I had a small itchy lump on my neck, turned out to be an infected hair follicle, some cream sorted it in a few days.

Then I found a small lump on a testicle, had a scan, turned out to be a harmless little cyst.

Then I kept getting nose bleeds and had a very sore spot inside my nose which was there for ages. Guess what, it was a nose infection, some cream sorted it in a few days!

You can imagine how worried I was after Googling that lot!
And that caused sleepless nights and more anxiety etc.

So yeah, get checked out if you get persistent symptoms that worry you, worry can cause all sorts of its own problems!

Yer i know it's mainly my head, but it seems something must be wrong somewhere as glands don't appear for no reason...

i made it worse by intently thinking brain tumor. Then googling dizzy feeling with head swell... Instant cancer hot spot!

Every time i find a new thing out about a brain tumor symptom i feel I'm getting it, like vision blind spots, i now think i have this as dust seems to always float imprint of my eyes and as I'm more aware i panic,

i think about my head when i feel ok and instantly feel bad, and i keep going back I'n my head from everything is just in my head to but there's a big lump on my head and 2 inflamed nodes...

Going crazy all because of google! I hate the interweb

Mate, chill out! That amount of stress is definitely going to kill you long before the cancer does.

I'm no doctor, but am I right in saying that swollen glands are common when the body is fighting off an infection or something?

Glands in my neck are a little larger than normal at the moment, but my other half has had a really bad cold this week (and I'v been just slightly sniffly), so I'm kind of guessing it's my body saying 'Non!' to that!?

Hmm my gf is always I'll... Maybe it's something to do with that, or it may well be down to a bad back and seriously over thinking.
i can't lay I'n bed and get comfy very easy any more, always waking up with aches...

think my next step is to visit a chiropractor or something.
atleast they might refer me if they don't think it's anything back related :-)

Yep - I had the lymph nodes in my groin up last year - thought it was a hernia as I was just starting to do more exercise and lifting etc. Just my body fighting of an infection.

I probably shouldn't be encouraging this but when we are stressed / anxious we produce a hormone called Cortisol. One of the functions of Cortisol is to act as an immuno-suppressant by limiting the production of white blood cells.

Therefore when we spend lengthy periods worrying we are reducing our bodies ability to fight infections.

See where I'm going with this?

What you need to realise is that your mental / emotional health and your physical health are very defintely linked. Sort your head out and your body will follow.

chowiekid - what you are saying sounds exactly how I feel. Squidgy lumps at the back of your head worrying you by any chance? Is your head feeling fuzzy, vision cloudy etc, constant worrying, exacerbated by bloody googling! Constant headaches at all? (7 years for me) chest tension random feelings of worry?

EDIT - jittery muscles, dodgy guts, dizziness?

Another EDIT - I'm drunk, but getting it off my chest!
