Grandad bought it, said he'd bought Michael a balance bike....... Thankfully it's not! Christmas for that.

No idea where he got it, but Amazon have them;

Have bought Noah one for his 1st Birthday in a few weeks time. Can't believe where the last 12 months have gone, it's just flown by and we have the most lovely natured bright young man. He can already pick out colours blue, yellow, green and red with 98% accuracy every time.

As I'm now a registered childminder I have a little chap one month younger than Noah starting in August, he's miles behind in development than Noah but I think they both will be keeping me rushed off my feet wobble

I'd also like to proudly announce that I think we've finally kicked the breast feeding too! I never thought I'd make 6 weeks, let alone 13 months and 1 day!

It's been 3 days without a feed, an in this heat, that's fine with me smile

Hi all,

Been a long time since I checked in. Ella is now 10.5 months and doing great. Genuinely happy smiley little thing, crawling away, pulling herself up on things, and actually stood unaided today briefly. Lots of "dadada"s too smile We have been doing baby-led weaning, not because we planned it but because after a couple of weeks of being spoonfed purees she decided she was much happier in charge of her own destiny, so she has been feeding herself for 4 months or so now, eating all sorts. Hoping it will stop her being a fussy eater!

Mrs.NCoT is going back to work this week so we have had a few part days with our childminder which have gone well and Ella has really enjoyed herself. I did want to ask what other people's experiences of this were though. I am feeling guilty about it to be honest and quite weird about somebody else looking after our precious daughter. She came back from her first full day on Friday with all the skin off her nose which apparently happened in the cot some how. It has scabbed over today and looks horrible, no idea how it could have happened but it doesn't seem to bother her. Also concerning was that she screamed in the bath last night - she has always loved it, but it was like it was scalding hot. Put it down to being very tired and totally overstimulated, but she did the same today. Started having awful thoughts about her being traumatised somehow in relation to water on Friday but according to Google apparently a sudden dislike of the bath is normal. She used to love it frown After a bit of distraction she seemed OK so hopefully it will pass...

We've been through the bath thing as well - like so many things, just a phase.

Nursery/childminder is hard, but you just have to put a brave face on it as she will grow to love it in a few weeks, and it has been so good for our eldest. Even now though, 2 years after she joined, we know that she'll cry on drop off after a few days away. She also cries at pick up because she doesn't want to go home though - you'll never win...

Our boy went into nursery at six months. My wife was starting a new job and he seemed to hate it, we were so guilty. I adjusted my week to do 5 days in 4 and have him one day, the wife had to wait two weeks for her new boss to return from holiday before she was able to arrange to go part time another two weeks later. We were quite prepared for her to not work after that first day though. Something about the nursery having all the high chairs lined up together seemed very cold and institutional to me.

He absolutely loves it now. The guilt's still there, but we have to pay the bills somehow.

He's come a long way after going back into hospital in the first week, dehydrated and not feeding at all.

Not such a problem now, just wish he'd sleep through.

When I was due back to work at Easter I'd managed to find a Childminder but wasn't overly happy about leaving him in the care of someone else. Silly as I'm sure he would have been fine but concerns regardless. Work took the situation out of my hands and I never returned or needed the childminder.

I am now a registered Childminder and Noah gets his mummy all day, whilst having friends here to play (and I can pay the bills). My youngest minding child is 1 month younger than Noah at 12 months and he's with
me 8 - 5pm, 5 days a week. It's a long day for a young one but he doesn't give his mummy a second glance when he's dropped off.

As for the bath thing, yep we've been there as well, occasionally the car seat and his buggy as well. It's just a phase they seem to go through

Ooohhhh it's gonna get worse so so soon. laugh

Unfortunately these little buggers will donk themselves off anything once they are mobile. Accidents do happen and as childminders we feel awful when it does.

They all go through stages with baths/car seats etc. perhaps change the routine and instead of a bath take her in the shower with you?
