I have flat feet and as a youngster it stopped me playing sport as my knees hurt. I found a chap that did custom fitted foam insoles and they were an instant cure. The place is a trek to get to and the orthotics don't last that long.
I've read about foam covered composite insoles that just require the foam cover renovating every so often which sound better to me.
I run, and cycle a lot and also do a lot of walking on a daily basis.
Does anyone use anything similar and have any recomendations for somewhere to get them made, prefereably in the South/South West of the UK?
Cheers.

I have custom made ones for my flat footed-ness. They are fine for sports, extremely resilient. I've had them about 6 months without any sign of wear.

Mine were created basically after a full body scan which showed how much my feet were messing up my posture and back/neck/knee areas which have always hurt. They have effectively cured my sore back, knees and neck though which is rather incredible.

Mind you at £400, not cheap. I got them from http://www.londonorthotics.co.uk/find.html

Good luck smile

Mother of god. That's expensive, but nothing compared to 10 years of new insoles on a yearly bassis. If they last it could be an investment.
What are your insoles made from?

Dont pay 400 pound bud that's a scam, Google foot and ankle clinic ring them and book an appointment with Mr Mark Gallagher.

You'll be more than satisfied.

Got mine done here: http://www.premierorthotics.co.uk/profile.htm in a clinic in Bath. Carbon composite base with foam top. Again £400 inc. initial consultation and 6 week check up after. Happy with the results. If you have health insurance, go to a doctor and get them to write a note to you and to the clinic, and you might be able to get them for free.

Hardly a scam is it..... Most places are that much for the insoles and the various consultations. You get what you pay for wink

OP mine are hard foam and felt (I guess?) as coverings on the top. They are moulded and cut by a computer based on the scans of your feet etc.

I used to get headaches every day due to rediculous as it sounds, my bloody feet messing my whole body! Since the actual day I got my insoles, not one biggrin

And all the time I was having them i thought I had a caffiene addiction it was because I was trying to cut down!

The insoles are supposed to last up to 5 years I think but may need to be changed depending on how your body adjusts to a different posture etc so it's different for everyone. New insoles if you need replacements ate only £150 IIRC as all the scans are already done....

400 pound is an outrageous amount of money to spend on insoles, i've seen some poorly made insoles which off the shelf jobs would have had a better effect.

OP give Mark Gallagher a ring and see what he charges out of interest, i'm sure its not that steep.
