Isn't there already a massive thread on this same subject? I'll do a quick search and edit to add.

Did 50 straight off in one set.

I will see how long it takes to build up to 100?

This is a great bit of fun to boost dreary gym sessions. I got to 54 in a row but now just do 20 x 3. This thread has prompted me to start again so i will start doing the continous targets.

I tried this the last time it was posted on PH and had the same problem as the OP: I followed the programme to the letter, but then when it asked me to do a lot straight off I topped out at about 25. It also made me very bulky and I ended up returning to swimming, running, cycling and circuit training. Doing that lost nearly 9kg in weight (78kg down to 69kg), which made me feel much better. After a year of that I can now do 50 straight off and I feel much better and stronger too....

OP here, I'm a lot stronger and fitter now, just down to doing the press ups and I even have definition but I still can only do 30 to 35 max in one go and more often it's around 25.

I'm doing 100 in a session and it's funny how this one simple exercise has changed my body shape for the better and has even toned my stomach.

Good stuff OP. I must admit having to not read the whole thread but if you're still not progressing as quickly as you were try alternating your push ups a bit by staggering the height of one hand or distance from your body of one arm.

This will put extra load onto one arm at a time and help increase strength, when you go back to doing standard push ups you'll be doing more than previously.
