Think you've mistaken this for the 'juvenile things which make you snigger' thread. This one's for people feeling depressed.

A question about antidepressants I may get some help...

I suffer from what I believe severe anxiety, but for the life of me I don't feel I suffer from depression. The psychiatrist I saw thinks otherwise and prescribed me with antidepressants...

I originally felt weirded out by it, but after looking online, they kind of go hand on hand, so similar medication can/does be used for one or both.

The first I was given was sertraline, but I suffered from EXTREME tiredness. I'm talking sleepy like I'd not slept for days, but night time comes and I just couldn't dose off!.

After going back to the clinic, I've been recommend I try a second antidepressants that will work with sertraline and stop the fatigue.
It'll be EITHER fluoxetine or mirtazapine. Things will be decided next week, I've stopped taking sertraline for now.

Has anyone ever had a mix of antidepressants, and how have they got on with it? I feel I'd be a guinea-pig!?

Be really careful with mirtazapine. Boy, it's effective at getting you to sleep, but boy, is it effective at keeping you asleep the next day. More troubling is that it keeps you (well, what it did to me) in a state till (IME) 2pm the next day. Honestly, I'd be safer lunchtime driving after a bottle of wine, than lunchtime driving the day after taking mirtazapine to get to sleep.

Yeah , the Mirtazapine wrecked my mornings as well, no such problems with the Fluoxetine.

I don't actually have problems with sleep. More often than not I do wake up in the middle of the night, but I'm able to doze off soon after

I'm quite jealous. I can't fall asleep unaided, but once out I'm dead to the world. I once slept through a neighbours house on fire, true story. The ex was hysterical.

Anyways, anyone want to chat, as I'm still in pieces by Amber passing. Common sense says 'it's a hen'. Don't care, I'm gutted.

I’ve slept through 3 fairly significant earthquakes, which as a geologist is particularly annoying.

So why am I crying my eyes out over a fking hen?! She was bottom of the pecking order, vulnerable, maybe that was it, I needed to protect her. I'm going to miss her. Afraid it's consuming me a bit, and I don't know why.

It’s understandably you feel down. It wasn’t just a hen for you. You nurtured him from an egg so he meant much more to you than a simple chick. Let the tears roll but wake up tomorrow than in spite of his early passing you gave him the best life he could have ever wished for... rejoice that!

My suspicion is that the feeling of the troubles old Sarah had a few months ago have manifested themselves in the death of this chicken. Possibly because you view the chicken as vulnerable, defenseless etc etc etc and in your mind you’re alikening the two. And let’s be honest, you’re probably not over the other thing.

It's funny you say that. We've been watching old... well, May this year old, vid clips including Amber. Half sized Hen covered in yoghurt, beak, head, belly, feet. So happy, happier than 99% of hens. We gave her that, but still, sad we'll have no more of it. She was a loved girl, and will be missed. fk, crying again.

True it’s sad but at least you had that... treasure those memories and try not to feel sad for whatever future joys you could have had... instead those older memories fill you with joy. Tomorrow is a new day and 15 other chicks want to be nurtured and happy!

As in her miscarriage? You may have a point, she sees herself as 'mummy' to Amber - and the rest of the hens. Ambi (her affectionate term) was a bit special mind, being near the bottom of the pecking order. I'm missing her already, she was a lovely bird.

Yes, the miscarriage. I didn’t want to be too obvious. You’re normally pretty open, but that’s rather personal.

I’m not a psychologist, but that’s my guess. What to do about it, I’m afraid I can’t really help you.
