Good evening/morning PH!
I was just wondering if anyone had any weird or wonderful cures for hangovers that actually work,
This is more important over the festive season where most people who drink stage war on their liver,
I along with many others I'm guessing, woke up with a hangover this morning and what really helped me was a nice bit of roast beef and a glass of Asti
All are welcome no matter how strange!!

Thats more prevention rather than cure. But, they say prevention is better than cure.

I always had a pint of water before bed, never had a hangover when I did.

Exercise.
Hard as hell to get going, but just force yourself. 5km brisk jog and your hangover will be gone, and you'll be ready for another beer.

some exercise then sauna steam room until you can taste the alcohol in your sweat. repeat until feeling sober. Make sure you drink lots of water with electrolytes.

Food, water and activity.

I find the worst thing is laying in bed feeling sorry for myself, it takes so much longer to pass like that.

Avoid fruit juice. That fks me right up.

I'd be too afraid to try this in case I pissed the bed...

Before bed drink a pint or two of isotonic drink. Or water with rehydration tablets in (camping shops sell these). It also helps to have a half to one hour of rest (usually traveling home time) after drinking to slowly drink these and sober up before bed.

If you wake up in the night, drink some more isotonic drink.

One cause of the bad feeling and especially headache is lack of salts like potassium, so the isotonic drinks replace these.

Next day - don't go for a greasy fry up. I used to, till I discovered spicy food as a cure. Chilli dumplings and noodles in peanut and chill soup from a Shanghainese place sorted me a treat. The chill provides an endorphin rush to help you feel better.

Nice long shower, a Resolve Extra (never fails) and a bit of fresh air for good measure.

Soluble paracetamol with codiene tablets, lucozade sport & some form of greasy food works rather well for me, especially if I've also had water or more lucozade sport before bed.

In fact I actually feel worse if I haven't had a kebab & soft drink at the end of a drinking session

Strawberry milkshake for me also! I have a pint or 2 of water if I can force it down before bed then milkshake through the afternoon, for some reason it's only chilled Yazoo that helps me out. Then a chinese takeaway in the evening sets me up for an early night.

Beyond time & a certain amount of rehydration, there are no cures for a genuinely heavy night, only attempts at mitigation.

Tried almost all - none of them really work - there is no miracle cure. Accept that & use all the suggestions to make the inevitable a little more bearable.

All of this "drink water, take pills etc before going to bed" cracks me up.

If I am sober enough to remember to do this, I won't have a fecking hangover nuts

Being active? How could anyone force themselves to be active with a proper hangover?

Best bet is to find a drink that doesn't give you a hangover in the first place. You'll just wake up drunk and gradually sober up.
