So all is well, going to a friends on friday for New Years, good get together of old Uni mates...

Wake up this morning with that feeling that a bd cold is on its way...ffs. Really could do without it... So my question to the masses of PH are there any tricks to staving of a cold before it sets in so that I can enjoy new years? I was thinking lots of water, vit C and overpriced cold/flu stuff.

Any other idea?

Really annoying as I had a 10 day cold before Xmas and i thought i was done for the winter frown

Have heard it said but how true or effective it is, is to make up a saline solution dip in a finger and thrust up the nose and twist a few times. The salt is supposedf to kill off the virus - but if it was that easy!!

Let us know how you get on

Quadruple doseage of Redoxin vit C and zinc always works for me.

Supermarket own brands are cheaper too.

Gargling with aspirin (dispersable) works well... and also blasting it with echinacea works wonders as well....

Hitting the Vit C is also highly recommended....

There's a lot of bugs around and the mild weather is not helping.... bring on the snow and freezing weather to kill the bar stewards off!!! And it is annoying to say the least when you have one and then get another in a short amount of time.... god damn human immune systems!!!! ain't as good as they used to be!!

Vit C and Zinc appears to work for me. Echinacea is a triumph of homeopathic marketing over results. even 7 years later:

If I am about to get a cold , the roof of my mouth goes sore.
At this stage I overload on vitamin c. I will drink a litre of orange juice , eat oranges , put lemon juice on my food.
By the next day I am fine .
Have not had a cold for a few years but please try it . Will not hurt

Alcohol is known as a universal poison because it kills anything if the dose is high enough. The only question is if the infection has a higher tolerance to alcohol than you.

If you raise your blood/alcohol level high enough it will kill the infection. The only questions are if it will kill you first and is the hangover headache worse than the one you probably have already.

Quaff away ‘it’s for medicinal purposes’.

Vit c and zinc. Leave it let it take its corse. You will have to take some form of cold remedy. How do you think the labs make all the money when they release the cold infection. Lol

Plenty of rest, eat healthily, soothing drinks, and possibly bring your duvet down to the living room. Always helps for me. You've got a couple of days until NYE, you should be over it by then.

I love the fact that on the leaflet that comes with a bottle of Night Nurse it says not to drive or operate heavy machinery.

What it should say is not to have any plans for the next 24 hours.

Like Vick mixed with Domestos (I imagine). Seems to work for me if I get it early enough (didn't this time). Mine usually starts with a sore throat so I gargle with whatever I've got - Listerine, Jack Daniels, you know. I take 1000mg garlic capsules too.
