After being "powerfully built" for many years I have been giving some serious consideration to joining Weight Watchers to lose some weight.

Ive tried it in the past with various diets but always lose interest after a few weeks and undo any benefits.

Have other people on here tried Weight Watchers and if so whats it like? I figured the meetings would be an incentive to keep going at it?

However Im a bit put off by the idea that its going to be full of women like Fat Fighters and the stigma attached.

Anyone else given it a try?

Yes, some years ago, went along to support the other half (quietly glossing over the fact I was nigh on 18 stones....).

The good thing is you're a bit of a rarity, so get lots of attention from the chubbies. You also can lose much more than them each week if you're like me. They got a little tick for each half-stone lost. I got three in four weeks! Give it a go.

If you can keep up the motivation to go every week, It's good. You need to go to the award/support sessions really to get into it.

You do have a lot of flexibility with what you can eat, but you need to stick to it to see the results really.

Weight watchers works for a lot of folk.

Otherwise maybe it could be an idea to find a sport/activity you enjoy as a way to help you lose weight, having motivation to become better at your sport/activity may help you focus on your diet to achieve those results.

I much prefer slimming world, find it a lot easier. I find I can eat more 'normally' on it with a few tweaks, where as with weight watchers I was only eating their stuff, plus you don't have to calculate everything on slimming world. But of course its about what works best for you. There are a couple of men at my group and they seem fine, in fact my grouop used to be run by a man!
