I've bought some L-carnatine a few times to help with energy delivery during exercise. However, the tablets start to fall apart/ crumble once the tub's been opened. I'm presuming they are soaking up moisture. Anyone else experienced this? Even putting them into an air tight container doesn't seem to help - I guess you're letting in moist air every time you open the tub to take one out?

Put simply, L-carnatine may help in the utilisation of bodyfat as an energy source during exercise.
I've never seen it used personally, have you noticed any benefits?ViperPict said:

Nothing like coffee. Coffee is thermogenic. You can use both for an added effect as they use very different mechanisms.
I stick by my original reply. Coffee encourages fat to burn first, too, due to caffeine.Read:
In bodybuilding athletes wishing to lose fat use thermogenic drugs to increase the basal metabolic rate, and thereby increasing the energy expenditure. Caffeine and ephedrine are commonly stacked for this purpose, as they have a synergistic effect on fat loss. Both have effects on fat loss through mechanisms not only related to thermogenic effect, but also enhanced utilization of triglycerides for fuel and suppression of appetite.

So, exactly like L-carnatine. Assuming Wikipedia is correct as are other sources that state caffeine is a catalyst that encourages the body to burn fat first (which is not the same as increasing your metabolic rate!).

No, it is not the same pathway as L-carnitine. It may have a similar effect (though it's even lesser than the thermogenic effect) but it's not the same. And the two can be used together for a compound effect still. In bodybuilding athletes wishing to lose fat use thermogenic drugs to increase the basal metabolic rate, and thereby increasing the energy expenditure. If you really want to lose fat, DNP!
most suppliment pills actually have no real scientificly measurable effect on the body , the most effective way of loosing fat is to reduce carb intake as much as possible as it forces your body to convert stored fat into a source of energy , combine this with a high protien diet and creatine suppliments taken with a citrus based drink and exercise makes for the most reliable way of loosing fat and gaining muscle mass

Unless you go down the drugs route:DNP
hGH
amphetamines
ephedrine
certain anabolic steroids
thyroid hormones

Before putting the fat back on. It's what most middle aged women do time and time again.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
