Just about the worst day of my life

Well, I thought it was about time for an update, probably the last one.
This week J turned 25. He has just moved in to a new residential house, the 3rd attempt at finding one that works long term.
25 years since the day he arrived with all my hopes and dreams of teaching him how to square cut long hops, bowl inswingers, send goalkeepers the wrong way, taking him to Upton Park, buying his first car, him buying me a beer and everything else.
3 years later that all went up in smoke with his diagnosis and we faced up to what was in store for the family. It ain`t been a smooth ride but here we are. My marriage and family intact and in January, fingers very much crossed, my daughter will give me a grand daughter.
Here`s J in his favorite place.
I hadn't seen this thread before now. You should be proud of J, yourself and your family. I have family in a similar position and I work with kids and young adults in J's position. More power to you. Hammer67 - thoughts are with all of you and I hope that J has happy places and that things work out well. I've read your posts over the past 9 years and I am astounded at the resilience you all must have shown. I don't know how hard it must have been but thankyou for sharing J's story and how you've all been supporting him.
Wish you all the best in the next phase

First time reading this thread , wow . I just can't begin to imagine how life has been for you and your family , you all must be shattered . Admiration for coping as long as you have, you've surpassed my abilities . Best wishes to you , and to J .

Briefly read the post, you have my respect and admiration.
My son has recently been diagnosed with depression, anxiety and to top it off Borderline personality disorder.
It’s pushing us to the limit, fortunately our daughter is in the UK at University so is out of the way.
It’s heartbreaking, when he was a kid he played rugby, had friends, went to birthday parties. Now he is a recluse, sits in his room all day,has no friends and really struggles, the depression and anxiety are a doddle to cope and deal with, the BPD is a whole different kettle of fish.
Op,I’m glad you have found your peace,it’s a difficult path mental illness, those that don’t have to deal with it just don’t understand. There is never a let up,never a moment when you are not on guard.
You now have breathing space, enjoy it.
