Rowing 1 million meters.
Discussion
I've just started rowing again. Trying to do 1,000,000 meters in a year.
Need to average just under 19.3k per week, so i'm doing 5k per session at the moment 4 times per week. Doing the 5k in about 21min 30secs, I want to get that down to under 20mins.
Anyone else want to give it a go?

I bet I did this and then some at university!
That's a big commitment, I'd be doing the average amou ts like you are to start with, but then using good days to bank some metres for those days when you don't feel so good to try and ensure you don't fall behind.
Good luck with it, you'll be fighting fit by this time next year if nothing else!!!

Thanks, eventually I want to start doing 10k sessions, but 5k is more than enough for me right now! That's a big commitment, I'd be doing the average amou ts like you are to start with, but then using good days to bank some metres for those days when you don't feel so good to try and ensure you don't fall behind.

Pretty much this Do you have the sea in your blood? I mean if you want to row a lot why not get a boat and go somewhere. You could row me and the girlfriend to the states for a holiday
and get fit.I'd be doing you a favour.

Good luck.
Have a read of this for motivation - this guy rowed 80 million+ meters in just over 2 years. He 'virtually' rowed the distance round the world.

That guy was absolutely fantastic - did seem strange at the outset, but everyone warmed to him in a big way.Have a read of this for motivation - this guy rowed 80 million+ meters in just over 2 years. He 'virtually' rowed the distance round the world.

I'm definitely getting the rowing bug, but a million meters? I'll just do a few sessions a week, maybe 10-20km, and just see how it goes.
mine is a sprint/2k plan. entails interval sessions 3 times per week and a 3 steady at 30-40 mins. It all adds up. Doing the British IRC at Nottingham on sunday. A fast 2k hoped for!
Sitting next to some of the big europeans...6:05-6:15 times.....they'll be in the showers by the time I'll be done!
