Possible chipped bone in foot.

Bit of a strange one this.
I woke up on Saturday morning with a sore foot, it wasn't especially easy to put any weight on it, half way down on the outside there is a small lump but no sign of a wound, apart from kicking out during sleep I've no idea how this could have happened.
As the pain got worse by the afternoon I decided to take a precautionary trip to A&E, the Dr was also puzzled but sent me for an X-Ray anyway, it came back inconclusive, he said there was no sign of a fracture but there may be a small chipped bone, he sent me home with anti-biotics in case it was an infection!
Our old friend Dr Google suggests the recovery for a chipped bone may take some time, my friendly A&E Dr didn't really suggest any further course of action.
I now turn to Dr PH to diagnose further!

I wouldn't give antibiotics for this history and if you really can't remember injuring it and there is no preceeding trauma then whatever it is it will probably go away.

Diagnosis can't be done over PH, it'll be guesswork which is just going to confuse you.

My lack of memory isn't even alcohol related I wouldn't give antibiotics for this history and if you really can't remember injuring it and there is no preceeding trauma then whatever it is it will probably go away.

Out of interest what would you say is the recovery period if it is a chipped bone? At the moment even driving is a bit of a hassle as the pain is going up my leg.

So I can't answer your question, but 1 week to 2 months for a chipped bone depending on site, size, mechanism, healing, age etcOut of interest what would you say is the recovery period if it is a chipped bone? Popping into my own Dr in the morning, hopefully they can point in the right direction with minimum of faffage.
