Has anyone had one recently?

Is it absolute bloody agony?

Questions I have:

What actually happens?
How long does it take?
Local or General anaesthetic?
Painful afterwards? If so for how long?
When can I start shagging again? smile
What does one's spaff look like afterwards?

I really need it doing but am, understandably, a bit nervous.

They open your sack with a tiny hole, pull the tube out and cut it. It gets tied up or cauterised.
How long does it take?
Actual procedure is less than 20 minutes
Local or General anaesthetic?
Local. May get a happy pill to make you more relaxed. The anaesthetic injection is the worst bit.
Painful afterwards? If so for how long?
Not really. Same as a kick in the nads. Take some paracetamol and you are fine
When can I start shagging again? smile
about a week
What does one's spaff look like afterwards?
the same as it did before. Sperm are not really visible to the naked eye
I really need it doing but am, understandably, a bit nervous.

Had one last summer..

It doesn't take very long, I was at the hospital for a few hours and most of that was waiting
Local anaesthetic for most, some opt for general.. For reference the injection in the second side hurts more than the first
Sore afterwards, but easily controlled with some ibuprofen, a lot of chaps have been back at work that day, or at least the next day.. I took the easy route and had a few days off work to enjoy crap TV.
Start shagging as soon as you feel comfortable, wear protection though as you won't immediately be sterile, you'll need to provide a sample at 16 and 18 weeks for tests.
Spaff, the same as far as I'm concerned..

Don't be nervous, it's a transitory moment of pain that'll be gone in no time..

Thanks, that is in some ways quite reassuring.

Thanks Slinky.

Better a short sharp shock than I keep producing kids at the rate I have been doing.

FYI, reversals are not 100% successful. I think it's more like 33% success rate. And they cost 3 times the cost of the chop. So if you think you might want more kids later... or there's the remote possibility that you might re-marry and want kids with someone else...

I guess so. It's not quite the same, though, if you want to go through the whole "motion" of having sex for weeks then one day having her say, "Darling, I'm pregnant!" "YAY!", if that is important(?).

I had it done 18 months ago, aged 33.

It didn't hurt, it was a bit uncomfortable when they injected the tubes, but other than that, it was pain free. It took about 15 minutes, and I didn't need stitches as they used a spray on glue. It was done on the NHS, and the whole process from initial docs appointment, to getting back to work was really easy.

The worst bit of the recovery was a slightly dull ache for a couple of days, and also stopping the kids climbing on me. I had it done on a Wednesday afternoon, and took the Thurs/Fri off work. After the weekend, I walked into work for a week (usually cycle as its less than a mile).

After about 15-20 weeks I think, I was given the all clear. There have been no issues with performance, or sex drive.

Really happy I had it done, I am certain I don't want any more kids, so it was a risk I was willing to take.

Heh!!

HEH!!

It is very quick and virtually painless.

A few weeks later you have a spaff-check, where they confirm (or deny) that there are no more motile little fellas.

Then you are sorted!

Had mine on Friday. Had about 10 mins of counselling, then the procedure took about another 10 mins. Bit uncomfortable, but not painful, while the doc was fiddling and rooting around to make sure he knew where my tubes were. Anaesthetic hurt about the same as dental anaesthetic - stinging rather than anything else, although as noted earlier, for some reason the second one hurt a bit more than the first. He did a sensitivity test to make sure the anaesthetic was working, then it was just the sensation of a bit of tugging and stuff - no pain. A mild smell of burning while he was doing te cauterisation. I didn't notice the bits he'd removed, but my wife saw them, apparently they were about 2cm long. Used an ice pack for a few hours when I first got home, and every few hours since (to minimise risk of swelling). Took paracetenol + codeine all Friday and yesterday (not ibrobrofen as it thins the blood, and you want to prevent bleeding), no pain worse than a gentle ache, although it feels like it would hurt if something hit them. Drove a short distance today without problem. Feels like I should be back to normal in a few days smile

Just dont do what I did when asked if I minded if someone could watch the procedure being undertaken, dont say OK.
I was lay on my back, when I looked up it was like the Stetford end at Old Trafford, there was fking thousands of them, the aneasthestist had to calm me down because my pulse went off the scale.

The actual procedure nothing to worry about though, just the healing seams to differ from person to person.

We'll had mine done yesterday.

It was all pretty straight forward.

10 minutes with the doc and his pretty assistant, who was actually there for training, doing the whole "Are you sure" "this is what is going to happen". Which meant I had the two of them rooting around my sack, while he showed her what he was going to do, this would probably have been less embarrassing if I didn't get a fit of the giggles over it all, you know how it is, you suddenly think that this would be the worst time to start laughing, and before you know it your laughing.

They uses and impact injector for the anaesthetic, felt a bit like having a small elastic bad twanged against your balls, not painful, just a little short sharp shock.

Unfortunately, it didn't seem to take on the left side, as when he went to cut, I felt it and nearly punched him in the head, so they did a normal injection which I didn't feel, but took a minute or two to take, which left me with my pride all on show, the Indian Doc in his mid 50's and his young 30 year old "trainee", all talking about the weather, couldn't have been more British if my gran had brought in tea and biscuits.

Part way through, I did wonder what the burning smell was, then realised it was my nuts.

35 minutes after starting it was all done, called the wife to come pick me up, she was going to be 20 minutes, so walked the 1/2 mile home, like a real man.

Stayed in bed for a few hours expecting the pain to get worse, as the anaesthetic wore of, but even 24 hours later and it is nothing more then a very dull ache, not really painful at all.

So for anyone else thinking of getting it done, its quick, easy and a lot less painful then youy think its going to be.
