I didn't know who else to ask or where to ask.

I understand this isn't advisable but I'm just seeing what happens.

Could someone tell me why I will suffer muscle loss if I have enough blubber for my body to take from? I'm doing more exercise now than I did before but I'm really not clued up on this.

I understand that 2 stone is impossible but it is the goalposts, if I lose 3lbs in the two weeks then that's the way it goes
It's fine here.

Yes you will lose muscle with what you are proposing.

And you most certainly should be able to lose a damn sight more than 3lbs in 2 weeks!

Just cheat to win the bet and start a proper transformation with proven techniques.

Here's hot to cut weight like a boxer/UFC fighter:

This is achievable, but as others have said, not advisable!

Obviously drink loads of water and eat carbs before the inital weigh in, and then for 2 weeks follow the dukan diet. Look it up.

No carbs, no veg, no salt etc. It's pretty hardcore but the weight flies off.

I did 7lbs in a week on it.

Carbs are your enemy here!!!! Cut them completely!!

If youre talking purely about weight, then have a look at some fighters 'cutting weight' before a weigh in (there is one video of rashad evans of the UFC which is extremely interesting and shows him losing around 7 pounds of water weight in a morning)

My Muay Thai coach is also Paul 'Semtex' Daley's head coach and 'apparently' he lost 18 pounds of (mainly) water weight in a week, but Im pretty sceptical about that. I'd say that would be the way to get anywhere near those short term goals.

It's very, VERY, much short term though, as you suggest.

I had a few Muay Thai fights and we would do all that nonsense. Running 5 miles to the gym with bin bags under your tracksuit, then training for an hour without drinking anything. Skipping with binbags/jumpers/hats on. Press ups in the sauna, one lad even used to get in the sauna with a wet suit on, and do friggin burpees!! Hot salt water baths just before weigh in. I had a six pack once, just before a weigh in, for about 30mins (the time it took to get a masssive fry up down my neck). It's not good for you at all.

Just had a look at this, it's suggesting 3g of protein per kg of body weight for me! That is a LOT of protein. In addition, it seems to be 100% shake and supplement based. Never sure about these if I am honest.

All these links make for some excellent, if worrying, reading. I'll get to my 1 week weigh and see how I'm doing and then look to tweak the technique

Crazy amount, you'd be pissing a kidney after a couple of months of that. In 20 years of weight training I reckon my max protein intake was 2g/Kg, and that was eating 7 or 8 times a day.

Going from the other "Losing weight" thread.

How about this two week experiment.

Drink water, take daily vitamin tablets. Eat nothing.

Or my favourite:

But skip breakfast and lunch. biggrin

I don't like this thread, it's a silly idea in my opinion. I don't see why anyone would want to mess with their health like this for no real reason except a bet. How old are you out of interest?

If you're healthy, treasure it.

You won't suffer any muscle loss. That will only happen when you are near starvation and there are no other sources of energy (ie fat) for the body to synthesize.

When you have very low bodyfat and are living on a calorie deficit then the body may synthesize protein (ie skeletal, visceral muscle) as a source of energy. In

two weeks you will lose no muscle, and you will not lose 2 stone.Good luck though.smile

Thanks smile

I've not done any dehydrating for the sake of a bet (yet) but I do feel much better for the food I have been eating. Fruit 3 times a day and then salad for dinner and touching nothing but water. I did have headaches for the first 2 days but I suppose that's to be expected.

It's been quite easy to stick to if I'm honest, I'll post up my weeks weigh in on Monday for anyone that'd like to see how I'm doing

I'm going to go with 8-10 pounds if you are serious about it.
The fat guy in America would have only lost the couple of stone because he was 25 stone in the first place.
Easier to lose at that weight but the lower in weight you are the harder it will get.

I've acquired some whey powder for after next week when I start trying to do a real fitness regime. Would any weight loss I may be having be hindered by the introduction of a whey shake?
Thanks

Okay so had a weigh in this morning. I'm actually a little anxious about posting up the weight as I think I may be in for some abuse but here goes:

I started at 15.8 and 3/4 according to my scales and this morning weighed in at 14.8 and 1/4.

Be it water or not I do feel alot better for the week long attempt. The gf has also been doing a similar thing and has lost a bit of weight too (She's tiny though, no idea why she is - women) so the scales don't seem to be under-reading.

Whatever the case (Fat, muscle, water) I actually look to be on course to win the bet!

You will probably lose a lot more than half of what you are going to lose within the first week.

Weight yourself tonight and see what you weigh then wink
In the morning after having no food for 8 hours + your body I think has broke down foods and is dehydrated.
Tonight you could be half a stone heavier.

Ah a good point, I'll post up the findings later if they aren't too embarassing.

14.9 just now which seems good. I'll gradually get it down around 12 stone. Have a night out coming up on Friday and there's no way I can't drink so I'll have to see what that does to me :s
