I even managed to persuade one of my friends not to do it.

My niece has them, she is 24 so it's up to her. It's a terrible shame as she is stunningly pretty. But is into metal etc so also has face bars, etc in her face. oh and full sleeves.

Methinks she may regret all that crap when sh's 40-50 frown

I'm sure my daughter will be tempted to do the same when she's older. I hope she doesn't.

I've interviewed people with piercings of one sort or another - they never made the grade for various reasons. Their loss, but I bet they look very cool signing on.

My daughter is 14 (looks 18) and we recently allowed her to have her ears pierced, one in each ear. She occassionally wears fake stretchers at the weekend - and they look totally hideous. She is gradually agreeing with us and can see that they make an impression, amongst people who count in life, that is very far from positive.

Way before that age if she has a modicum of intelligence

I've often wandered if people do things like this as a statement of indivuality, however in my eyes all it does is identify them as being part of a large group of like minded "individuals". I've always encouraged my kids to stand from out the crowd by having a strong personality, being confident in their own abilities and being someone who others enjoy being around

The only mitigating factor is she is part of the scene, she is an amazing Tatoo artist, and I mean amazing. Some of her work is photogenic and she gets a lot of requests around the UK. The tats are ok IMO (I would be a hypocrite if I had something against them, and they are way better than mine) but the ear st is just ugly.

To be honest I'm often impressed by people's tattoo's, which can by stunningly artistic and immensely skilful, I'm with you on the piercing front, tats you can cover up, a face full of metal is somewhat more difficult to disguise

One of my PAs has a lip piercing and three or four different ear piercings, including two that are slightly stretched (probably just 2-3mm) - she's a good PA and I'm proud to have her, and I couldn't give a toss if people I meet with her supporting me are prejudiced because of her piercings - it's not relevant at all.
