Twistygit; my intention after finishing the two months is to just do a couple of the Insanity workouts each week coupled with a couple of weights sessions in the gym. Then maybe monitor my fitness using the insanity fit test every now and again. I don't really have any end goals and I'm not training for any particular reason. (Although I will be interested to see if my running pace has improved and whether my skiing has sharpened up.)

No idea about skiing but by the time I finished month 2 I was able to knock 10-15% off my running PBs

Just about to start the second month having done my 3rd fitness test on Wednesday (went running last night), brother has also publicly challenged me on Stalkbook so I killed his numbers on my 3rd test, to be fair though it was his 1st test but he did do 6 weeks of insanity before Christmas.
Looking forward to the second month, then killing Asylum and then P90X before my wedding in September.
Will post results later when I get back to my records.

Blimey you're keen lol good luck with it all.

Is anyone else doing this and using the recovery juice or any other powders etc? did they make much difference?

Holy Mother of God! Did day one of month two yesterday. I don't think I even managed the complete warm-up. A completely different game compared to month one. Will go back tonight and press on with the program though.
As for the recovery drinks, I have an Isolate Matrix protein drink, to be honest I don't really notice any difference but then I can't drink it straight after the circuit as it's dinner time. If I didn't eat what the better half prepares then it's likely my parts will get roasted.
I do have a shake for breakfast though each day, usually with some ice and a banana in the blender to bulk it up and fill me up.

Yeah month 2 is a whole new world of pain. Its a real challenge making yourself do the cardio abs after you have just doe an hour of max cardio.

Was wondering if shakes helped at all as when I went through it I carried on feeding as normal and still had pretty good gains and wasnt that sore and was wondering if bigger gains were available with better nutrition lol

So did everybody who followed this buy from the official website or elsewhere?

I've done a quick search on local Gumtree but either everyone is keeping theirs or noone has bought it biggrin

Looking to give this a try but >£100 does seem a wee bit steep!

OK I am about to start this as Mrs Chimp is going to be working nights during August so nights out non existant for me - using the opportunity to come off the bevvy and try and lose some timber.

I am 43, 5'6" and roughly 13st 5 so a fair bit overweight.

I like to think I am still slightly fit as I cycle to work a bit and can do a 35 mile cycle without any issues.

I can run up 4 flights of stairs but will be puffing a bit.

Basically i'm wondering if i'm prime heart attack material if I try this?

My diet is my downfall, too many bad things so got to try and change this, add in some bananas, etc.

I plan on doing this in the garage, I have Costco rubberised flooring down so hopefully not too hard on my aching joints.

I did try running 2 years ago and was up to 10k ni 1 hr 1 min but my left knee started clicking so put paid to that - I have bought a knee support to hopefully stop it from becoming an issue again.

Would you recommend whey protein? I did a high protein diet 4 years ago with weights routine for 3 months and noticed a big difference but a rotator cuff injury stopped that (whilst doing military press with 18kg dumbells - not nice!).

You may be able to tell i've tried a few things over the years, cycling is my only constant but I like the sound of this workout, IF my body can cope.

What about those tablets mentioned earlier to help recovery? Do they sell them in Holland & Barrett or elsewhere? Do they help muscle recovery?

Might invest in a heart rate monitor as well just to keep tabs on things.

Any advice gratefully appreciated.

Good luck with it. I lost 1 and half stone in two months by doing they and cutting carbs/alcohol.

It is tough on your knees though.

Insanity is fine for unfit people as long as you work to your own rate and don't try and keep up or exceed the people on the screen.

It involves a lot of jumping but they should be 'soft lands'.

If I was really unfit I woudl start off with some light jogging for afew days just to get the muscles moving before doing insanity - insanity invovles a lot of jumping around.

its also worth doing the first fit test or one of the month 1 workouts at a self imposed gentle intensity a few days before you plan to start it properly as if you are not used to using all the muscles they will be sore as hell 2 days after your first workout if you just go all in.

Also dont be disheartened by not being able to keep going through entire workouts or at the pace the robots on screen work at. try to push yourself but do take breaks when you need to. You will find you need less and less of them as time goes on.

Most importantly watch how the moves are supposed to be done and concentrate on form rather than speed. This will give you the proper workout. Seen videos of people on youtube doing it their way and its pointless.

I thought it worth a laugh

Good luck - as someone doing lots of bodyweight, kettlebell and martial arts work at the moment to shift some weight I feel your pain! Go at your own to pace to start with and you'll be fine.

I gave the Fit Test a try last night. Haven't been on my bike for over 10 days and apart from cycling, haven't done any exercise for a couple of years.

Jesus H Tittyfking Christ that was hard!

I could barely get up the stairs for a bath afterwards.

It's not my calves as some are saying, it's my thighs - right up the backs of them and the wee muscles just above the knees on the insides - talk about sore!

I did this to see how I got on, not starting for real until Monday but pretty happy with my intial figures. I did seem to hit a wall around the Globe Jumps level and needed to pause for 2 minutes whilst I recovered.

My initial figures:

Switch Kicks - 116 (singles)
Power Jacks - 54
Power Knees - 76
Power Jumps - 45
Globe Jumps - 5
Suicide Jumps - 10
Push Up Jacks - 22
Low Plank Oblique - 43

Weight is 13st 6lb and i'm 5ft 6in so looking to lose a couple of stone if possible.

Thanks for this mate.

I'm heading out at lunch to get some BCAA tablets and whey protein powder to lend a hand.

Might start making my porridge oats/apple/banana/whey protein shakes again like when I was doing my high protein/weights workouts as I found them great start/finish to the day.

Good luck with it, it's challenging and tough at the start and then you get to month two and it's another level entirely. One piece of advice is warm your calves up thoroughly as they take a real pounding particularly month one.

For those that have done it, what did you do after? I did it last year and still try to do 2/3 a week to keep relatively fit.

I've done it twice through properly with a rest for three weeks inbetween where I did it two or three times a week, I've been off it for about five weeks doing it again twice a week but am gonna start it again I think.
Was gonna start some kettle bell training but didn't get round to it will have to get some I think.
