Can you buy it in pharmacies OTC or do you need a prescription? Or is it not even prescribable in this country? Has anyone tried it?

I've tried it. I burnt before I tried it, I used it before I was going abroad and that holiday had the best tan ever, no sunburn.
After the holiday I kind of gave it up as I was noticing blood in my poo and my diet was good at that time so I narrowed it down to that causing the problem.
Was it worth it? Yes.
Would I use it again? Possibly. When I researched it alot of people gave details of different side effects.
Heads aches. Stomach aches. Hard ons wink hot flushes. I did experience hot flushes too but only for 10-15 minutes after use of it.
I bought via a source on a Bodybuilding forum.
.....rofl

You can get it on Amazon.
What do you want it for?

That's great.

Did you feel really tired on this holiday?

Yes, was given some by a south african lady I used to work with. I don't believe you can get it over here on prescription.

It worked well for me. I was going through a period of insomnia so she suggested I tried it. I took it for about three days an hour before trying to sleep and it worked well.

I felt fine the next day and not drugged up when I woke up, to be honest I didnt really feel any effect after taking it, I just was able to go to sleep as normal, which is what you'd expect as it is I believe the hormone which controls your sleep pattern.

I do quite a lot of intercontinental travel on business and suffer badly, and I mean really badly with jet lag.
A colleague of mine in the US used to give me Ambien which knock you the fk out like nothing else - but it didn't solve the overriding problem of adjusting my body clock - plus they have a fairly heavy narcotic effect.

Melatonin is by far and away the best thing I have taken for managing jet lag - works brilliantly for me with absolutely no side effects.

I buy it over the counter in any pharmacy in the US - here it's prescription only and not easy to get hold of.

My advice - buy loads of it from the US.

I've done loads of long haul trips and melatonin is by far the best 'drug' for jetlag. Completely natural sleep. Should be available over the counter everywhere, it's a harmless chemical.

Melatonin - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melatonin

Melanin - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanin

Melanotan - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Melanotan_II

I think some people in this thread may benefit from learning the difference between the above substances hehe

The thread is about Melatonin, a sleep aid, not a body builders tanning pill. wink

It's on Amazon.com as it's available over the counter in the US as i said above.
It's not on Amazon.co.uk as it's a restricted medicine in the UK and requires a prescpription.

Though it appears on a number of health supplement sites in the UK which apparently do not require a prescription. Can't say what the quality would be like though.

I went to my order list (last June) and clicked on the link, but it doesn't seem to be there anymore.confused
It was listed as '1 of: Melatonin, 3 Mg, 60 Caps' sold by Healthy Kingdoms.
I do recall at the time there were 10mg and higher ones available.
And I still have almost the whole tub left!biggrin

So I looked and cannot find any now, but there are a few herbal things.

Doesn't really say what is in it.
They were doing something they shouldn't, or something changed?

5-HTP ain't it.

If it is a prescription thing then presumably it's not legal to sell it without prescription (but also presumably it's legal to possess cause it's not a controlled drug) although I'm not certain of that.

I actually went to a pharmacy today and just got blank looks. There do seem to be plenty of internet sources though, but massively different doses.

Also the dosage guidelines I'm getting on the net seem to be contradictory. What doses are you guys taking?

in the UK its a prescription only drug.

My neice has Angelmans syndrome (a congenital disorder along the lines of downs but much more critical), and she only sleeps 30-40 mins every 24 hours-0 the rest of the time she's manic.

melatonin means she sleeps 4-5 hours a night- not great but it means my sister can get some sleep/

borrowed some to go to the US for a business trip and it really helped fix jet lag!

my mother is a prescribing optometrist, amongst other things, so I wonder if I could get her to prescribe me some to rest my eyes...
