Interesting post maybe here. Have been suffering now for 30 odd hours, with a rather evil bout of trapped wind! Cant seem to shift it, no matter what I do.

Anyone got any ideas?

Have you tried stretching, eg stand up, place hands on floor and form a 'bridge'?

I always find laying on my side and getting into the recovery position allows me to let rip such a magnitude of guff that the cat (and sometimes Mrs E) leave the room.

Anything with simethicone - found in stuff like deflatine, windeze, gasex etc. Available over the counter.

I thought I had trapped wind a couple of years ago and it wouldn't go. Went to work and had to come home, missus was getting me to do situps and everything. Thurns out my appendix was knackered, I was in hospital the next day. Purely by coincidence the missus had an appointment at the hospital and I popped into A & E as it was getting worse. 2 Hours later I was tucked up in a hospital bed.

Are you sure it's trapped wind?

Not wanting to freak you out here, but I personally know of two chaps under 40 who died of bowel cancer because it was discovered too late.

Get yourself to your GP now, and pester them for a full lower GI series. This isn't pleasant, but whatever it is you have (hopefully nothing) the earlier it's caught, the less treatment you will need.

Thats a very good point, only 26 here, but could be worth checking. The pain just came on last night, feels like I need to let one rip, but cant. If it hasnt shifted in the morning, ill give the docs a call and see what they reckon

Again , that is exactly what I said to my mrs . Needed to fart but couldn't. I think a whole day is a bit long for wind isn't. Take a few tablets but if that does not shift it by the morning id be at the docs ASAP.

I recall waking up in the middle of the night with awesome pain down there (sort of difficult to pinpoint it) but feeling like I want to poop but couldn't, almost scared the st out of me, which would have been useful. Laying on the settee and bringing my knees up to the chest seemed to work.

kneel on knees and elbows, stretch out left arm and right leg as far as they'll go, retract and repeat ten times before swapping around with the other arm and leg
