Got DTP legs session this evening. It's a funny thing, I've been hyping myself up about it all day and have the mixed emotions of really looking forward to it for the challenge and satisfaction aspects, and really dreading it at the same time.

Get it smashed mate. Its hard work but the hard work pays off.

Im laying off the legs for this week. Hopefully going mountain biking at Llandegla this weekend so want fresh legs for that, i find it hurts enough as it is without being sore from weights + ive not done much on my bike for ages.

Had pretty awful week last week. Only a football match and training. No weight training and eaten a lot of crap this week so been a good break feeling pretty fresh and ready to start of November.

Got to measure up later on how the body has changed from the start October, see if there is any changes. Definitely feeling different.

Well, after resting my back since tuesday I did the virgin active indoor triathlon on Saturday, my overall time was, 21:40
1.2km run 7:19
5km cycle 9:44
200m swim 4:37
I'm really happy with those results. I was aiming for under half an hour.

I'm still taking it super easy on my back, but am back to personal training tomorrow morning so will see how that goes.
Hope everyone is having a good week! Well done to everyone, keep it up.

Funny this thread is revived today. Weighed myself this morning on professional scales (last time I did that was about 4 months ago). My goal weight was 67kg. Turns out I'm 61.8kg. Not sure whether this is good or bad as I am trying to build muscle whilst killing fat.

Sounds like you are doing well on the fat side of things.

I think weight doesn't really matter, what matters is what you see in the mirror! Are you happy with the composition?

Sheesh can't believe I'm nearly 40kg heavier than you!

Lee
Well, certainly, my body looks more athletic which I'm pleased with. I've never been proud of my physique before - I can't wait for summer just so I can walk around in vest tops and shorts or even just swimming shorts around the pool.

I'd rather have a lot more muscle but it's partly down to injury that things have been slow in that department and partly down to not eating enough protein (although I'm eating a lot more than I was this time last year). I am pleased with how my thighs are developing, however - Bulgarian squats are great!

Is it wrong that I feel proud of Sushi's achievements even though they had zero to do with me?

Well done anyway Sushi, you're an inspiration to all who want to make a significant change to their lives. For me this is what its all about health, confidence and happiness.

I personally train because I like the internal battle between me and my body and constantly pushing harder than my body can cope with, every time I refuse to give up even though my body demands I do I win a battle with myself.

To all of the posters in here, what is your motivation for training?

And here's my motivational video for the day; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GkStMPrzuAg&fea...

quite the opposite sir you all have had a massive hand in my progress, I see in you guys the type of fitness and strength levels I'd like to achieve, and it inspires me to push that little bit harder and further than I normally would.
Using this and the other threads in health matters I have drastically altered my diet, and starting this week I am now eating what I hope will be correctly for maximum body fat loss.

I've been using Amazing by Kanye West as my main workout track for doing anything particularly heavy, I heard it on the UFC Anderson Silva promo, and it really gets me in the right frame of mind. I'll post a link up when I'm on my computer.

I'm here - And started plugging away 1 week ago - Starting weight was 89 kg at 5'11 though i've never been too bothered about weight.

Going down the no carbs 5 days per week to begin with - doing a 4 day weight split in addition 4 days fasted cardio before work. Weekends are pretty laid back to keep motivation up.

I'm down 5 lbs in week 1 but believe most of that will be down to water loss so not expecting this all the time!

I may gets some photos up - not sure if I'm too late on this comp too!

Cheers!

Forgot to add my sups - 1 x diet whey per day, 2 x BCCAs, Multi vits and calcium for my ruined wrist!

May consider T5's toward the end - and I also have some Clen; which i may take depending on how mad I go toward the end and needing to get ripped! Please don't destroy me on these, I've been training years and am well aware of the dangers associated with both.

Cheers!

I'm still undecided on the matter; having used T5's before (Which are mostly just ECA) but clen still scares me a little. I want to see how far I get over the next 3 months naturally - I'd like to see 8% body fat which is somewhere i've not seen before now!

My motvation to start off with was simply i was a fat unfit fecker.
I still have a bit of belly but a lot less than i used to and im loads fitter.

These days my motivation is more i actually enjoy going the gym etc.

Ive been at it again for a few weeks now. TBH i dont really feel that ive made any progress body wise. My face has lost some fat but thats about it weight is still the same a couple of pounds heavier than the weight i leveled out at last winter.

Ive been trying to eat more i still think im not eating enough but tbh im struggling with that. Hopefully will get in at the Docs this week ive got a funny feeling ive got IBS which is half the problem im just bloated constantly just cant eat enough.

On the + side i feel ive learnt a lot in a short time about free weights and enjoying usng them. Im also 5 weeks a non smoker which has defo helped with the cardio.

Sit at a desk all day

So ive worked it out that i need 2188 calories each day to stay at the same weight.

Im currently at about 1400 - 1600 cals a day. Eating pretty clean in the main apart from Sat when i have a cheat meal etc. Weight isnt shifting im thinking im still not getting enough down my mush, what do you think ?

What sort of split should i aim for Protien / Carb / Fat intake for the day ?

(1) BMR.

(2) Try eating 1700-1900. Also, how big is your cheat meal?

?

(3) Who cares. Eat beer pizza all day if you want.

Remind me what your training regimen is?

Even with a cheat meal, you need to log the calorie intake.

Cheat meal is a takeaway of some kind chinky / Indian / fish n chips or a meal out in a put etc nothing crazy bad.

Workouts at the moment are weights 3/4 times a week then as much cardio i can fit in before i have to get to work. Sometimes non sometimes 20 min or so.
Then normally 2 swimming sessions per week normally about half a mile.

The cardio isnt a lot at the moment as ive been waking up late ( i hate mornings ) Going to try and do more that should help

How are you splitting the meal timings?

FYI - my macros are currently P=61.4%, C=32.2%, F=6.4% but remember that my diet at the moment is stupidly strict and the carbs were dropped a while back as per the program.

Well, you need to estimate it. A typical portion of fish and chips or a pizza is around 1500 calories... which is 90% of my daily target! Order a tub of rice, curry, naans and beer and you're probably looking at 2500-3000 calories in one meal, which will wipe out any deficit for that week.

As for exercise, I'd highly recommend HIIT over any steady state cardio (unless you have time to run 50-100 miles a week...). If you can swim, try sprint swimming:
-swim as if a shark is chasing you along one length of the pool
-when you reach the other side, count to 10
-swim back as if same shark is still after you
-count to 10
Repeat until you cannot move. biggrin

If you use exercise machines for cardio, have a watch of this video I made: http://youtu.be/1H7Sj2h6-_U

Thats a fair point TBH id never thought about it like that. Ive just been going on every other day being good apart from that 1 meal. 1 meal wouldnt matter type of thing.

My meal intervals are something like this

Pre workout first thing in a morning is just a strong brew

Then breakfast / lunch / dinner

As of today ive added some peanut butter between breakfast and lunch and will add a shake between lunch and dinner to try and bump the calories up.

I was going to do that Chris Gethin trainer but as i am at the moment i couldnt eat that ammount of food as frequent as that.

Glad ive asked now as ive some ideas to play about with. Thanks

Btw - did the DTP Legs sesh last night - Fark Me!

Getting from the 50 to 10 wasn't too bad. I was even pleased that I was lifting good weights for the 10's - then it started to hurt. The 30, 40 & 50 sets were only completed with pure willpower and bloody mindedness. Amazing how little weight it takes to put you through agony at the end of that.

Hehe - then I did the 3 sets of weighted lunges. Oh, that was fun...

Walking like an old codger today.
