Thats a fair point TBH id never thought about it like that. Ive just been going on every other day being good apart from that 1 meal. 1 meal wouldnt matter type of thing.
My meal intervals are something like this
Pre workout first thing in a morning is just a strong brew
Then breakfast / lunch / dinner
As of today ive added some peanut butter between breakfast and lunch and will add a shake between lunch and dinner to try and bump the calories up.
I was going to do that Chris Gethin trainer but as i am at the moment i couldnt eat that ammount of food as frequent as that.
Glad ive asked now as ive some ideas to play about with. Thanks
Some people are of the opinion that cheat meals should be reserved for those under 10% bodyfat! I don't think most people could last on a diet without cheat meals, though. My meal intervals are something like this

PB is a good food for ramping up calorie intake. Which reminds me... aiming for 1000 before the gym this evening.

Yeah i agree. I dont mind eating the stuff in the week etc but a cheat meal is like a little reward each week. Having said id rather not have a cheat meal than give up ale nooooooooooo way id give up ale totally. PB is a good food for ramping up calorie intake. And you don't have to. Log everything that goes in your mouth. It's simple, really. That reminds me, I need to restock my cider.

I can't believe how disciplined I've been. Middle of the 10th week and I can safely say I haven't cheated on any meals. Even When I was away in Nepal, I purposely chose to order just a grilled protein and greens.
My only slip up has been a couple of glasses of wine and even those have left me feeling crap, I haven't enjoyed them and feel like I've let myself down badly.
Daft really but I feel that I've put so much effort in and now I really don't want anything to get in the way of the results.
Bit of a bugger that I've got a wedding to go to this weekend then

My Shoulders are really lacking can you chaps point me in the right direction of the best movements to to to build them up.
At the moment im doing
1 of Shoulder press bar or Seated dumbell press alternate weeks
1 of Bent over rows bar or dumbells alternate weeks
Side raises
Front raises
Does that look ok or could i improve on this ?

I've added those to my shoulder workout. Make sure you start off light to get the technique nailed. I started off with about 30kg and can now do 50kg 3x8. They're called snatch grip behind neck press, btw.

Don't fancy that much - looks too risky for little gain over a regular press.
I'm quite pleased with my shoulders over the last year or so - nothing special just doing it right. The exercises you list are fine. Although the muscles are quite small, they get worked pretty much every upper body movement and some leg exercises too. I wouldn't concentrate too hard on one particular group unless I was well advanced, which I'm not and never likely to be. A good set of workouts covering the whole body is enough for most of us - it's more about form, discipline and consistency than any special exercise or group of exercises. IMO.

Cheers chaps.
The form part of things is what im trying to learn about the most at the moment.
Learning slowly as i go, also now have more of a idea of what i can and cant lift. Ive started to up the weight now.
This morning was chest and Tri - my fav day
Most weight ive lifted so far and id go more if i had a spotter (Defo dont want to get stuck under the bar again )
Cardio today was only walking on the treadmill :-( yesterday after around lunch time my leg was killing me and again this morning. Got to work after the gym and now i have no pain at all. Trapped nerve maybe ?

Are you trying to get big or strong or a bit of both? If so what %? Answering these questions will really determine the best path for you and weight training.
Lee
Bit of both really i suppose, if i had to pick one id pref size over strengh. Lee
Since ive been back at it ive been using free weights for everything ( which is kind new for me ) apart from some legs stuff. Just been doing 3 or 4 x 10 reps for upper body stuff so far.
Started off with light weight so i got used to it and with the aim of slowly building over a few weeks to a real working weight for me.
This week ive gone heavy ish at that rep range. Next week i was going to stay at the same weight and go for 12 reps see how i get on.
Does that sound like im going in the right direction ?

ISTR someone linking to an article on Lyle McDonald's website to do with ways of overcoming lactose intolerance. (I dunno, those lactoses coming into this country, taking our jobs, stealing our wimin!) For the last twenty years, if I drank so much as a white tea, I'd be bloated and my next "toilet visit" would be "showery" from the rear end. Not ideal as I liked milk in my tea and only made the connection between milk and "toilet problems" at university.
Anyway, Lyle's article talked about eating more yoghurt (which for some reason I seem to be able to handle), so I have been trying to eat 1-2 pots a day for the last 6 months.
Yesterday, I decided to give it a test - I had half a teacup of whole milk (it was delicious). Result? No "toilet problems"!
Gonna give it a few days and try a whole cup of milk then a mug! I want to try an old favourite: cornflakes in milk and sugar, too.

I love reading his stuff and the diets & information he has provided has allowed me to make changes like no-one else I've read.
No problems of a toilet kind!
