It looks similar to 5/3/1 beginners but with less sets/more reps for the main lifts and with more assistance work, in that it is doubling up the main lifts.

I would suggest that anything much over an hour lifting weights is a lot.

Session 1 looks brutal if you are lifting heavy for the main lifts as its deadlifts, squats and press back to back. If I'm reading that right you have 7 accessory exercises on the same day as well?

What's your diet like? Are you tracking that? Any sort of calorie cut with this volume assuming you are lifting heavy is going to be hard work.
Session 1 is brutal, I agree. That was the session I was doing when I passed out and after doing it again yesterday I left feeling extremely fragile. haha

I average about 1 hour in the gym plus the walking to/from. I'm lifting what I would class as reasonably heavy.
45KG on the Trap Bar (could probably go heavier but form would suffer)
14KG per arm on the DB bench press (about my limit)
10KG each arm on the split squats and 3 point row (could probably go heavier but it makes me head feel dizzy)
35KG on the arm pull down (could probably go heavier)
35KG on shoulder press (could probably go heavier but form would suffer)

Diet could be better but I'm eating enough. I'm not doing meal prep for anything like that. Regular cereal for breakfast, chicken for lunch, regular average dinner with meat and veg every night unless we have pizza which is once every 2 weeks.

For now, focus is on getting into a new routine including the gym. Doing it in stages rather than overwhelming myself chaining everything in one go.

Honestly, I have no idea what I'm doing which is why I got myself a PT to push me along and give me structure to my workouts.

1 persons heavy might be the next persons light.

Regarding the sweat thing, just take some baby wipes with you if you dont want to shower but are worried. BW are not just for wiping up baby st and cum

OK, so my comment about the DB's being put away at the gym - went to one @ Farringdon, fk me was it hard to find the weights and then find a pair together. I suppose i cant blame them really at the one at Bank specifies which weight goes where and Farringdon doesnt.

Then theres the changing room bench hog - bench is about 5 foot long and 'supports' 10 lockers. But theres 2 side by side so its 5'x 2' arrangement. Go to my locker and, lets call him dhead, has his st sprawled out over 2/3s of the surface area. Ni big deal, i just need space for my bag and as its just me and him, not a problem. Then more people start coming in and to the same locker area. As you can guess, it gets congested but dhead doesnt help by tidying up his st, its like hes trying to be alpha male of the bench. Anyway once he finally decides on if hes going to train or not, whips his top off to revel his perma tanned gyno tits and small arms. GTFO

I'd suggest counting your calories with something like myfitnesspal if you aren't already.

If I'd quoted an exact weight I'd agree with you, but heavy is heavy regardless if it is 100kg or 1000kg for that person as its a subjective term, hence why I used it.

Have added my weights above.

I have been meaning to look into myfitnesspal. Will do that tonight. Thanks!

The starting weight is just a number, its more important that form is good and how it feels when you lift. You should be improving rapidly as your body adjusts to lifting and your form improves after the first 6 weeks or so. You should be able to increase the weight every week from then if not before for the first 12 months, assuming you are eating enough and not over training.

I want to this as I feel its kind of apt in here.
is there anyone here that doesnt shower, does/doesn't do a change of clothes after a gym session?

reason I ask is now I have access to a gym at my workplace which I want to use, but I don't want to be bk-naked infront of other colleagues.

In the gym i currently use near me (a 15min cycle away) it's not an issue as I basically do my workout, leave and cycle stiraght home, so this affects nobody. However in this instance I'm going to be grabbing the DLR and another overground train home... so I don't imagine walking about covering in sweat is a great idea..

is there anyone in a similar position that does this? what do you do? i don't want to have to shower at the gym for the sake of other commuters. don't want to have to carry 3x the amount of clothes (work clothes, gym clothes, then post-gym clothes).
I used to train after work, then get the tube home in my workout clothes, simply as a I prefer showering at home.

Never felt bad doing it or had any looks or comments, but I never really smell or sweat heavily so i guess that is the decider. Could always bring a spare t-shirt to throw on to go home in, should suffice?

Yeah, just pack an extra plastic bag with a t shirt and undies, then when you leave the gym, put your gym gear in the bag and twist it to seal in the goodness. Quick squirt of deodorant to finish.

A function of the '6 week' course to get your diploma. I tell a lie, you can do it online and a 2 week in-person course. What a joke.

When I was in the city I used a guy who did know what he was doing. Proper degree in sports science and 10+ years training himself and was in very good shape.

PTs are fine if they get the idle moving and whilst there are some good ones, I'm pretty cynical. A friend of my wife has just completely her PT course. She thinks she knows it all. Says it all. She has tried at least half a dozen 'new careers' in the past 3 years, trying to start a business.

Understandable-you say you have no idea. My only advice is spend some time looking at youtube videos. There are some excellent free training videos. Very good. https://www.youtube.com/user/JDCav24/videos knows what he is talking about. This guy is more into Strength https://www.youtube.com/user/strengthcamp/videos

I think at your level 1hr.45 is far too much volume and a rest period of 1 min is too short.
just my opinion smile

Most PTs are themselves in terrible shape and, to the extent they lift at all, are ego lifters. The PTs in my local gym (apart from one, who is a solid powerlifter) all have the same horrendous form as their clients - 5 inch bench press ROM; "pull ups"; swinging curls.

The Athlean-X guy is a genuine expert and is a brilliant resource.

Elliott Hulse, on the other hand, is just another internet steroid bro with no real clue.

Somebody took my sweaty kit, thus sealed in a bag, a few weeks ago while I was in the shower. Assuming he didn't have a sweaty kit fetish, he or his SO will have had an unpleasant surprise when it came to washing time. It didn't come back.

I thought it was all about DHs there.

(only ever been there to read the penis beaker thread, honest, although I did decide to check out the other sex-related stuff and regretted it)

It upsets my sensibilities too, but it is balanced.

I hate even seeing plates not loaded in descending weight order.

My view is that the tolerances for the weights will also be different. I.e. a 5kg plate may have a 1% tolerance for variation were a 10kg plate the tolerance percentage maybe 1.5% - this is my thinking.
