A hitachi magic wand costs about £30.. that's about 2 months gym membership, why doesn't she just buy that? It'll last her a lifetime and she won't have to take the trip to the gym for that.

She could be using it to massage her legs / glutes, which is fairly legit, I'd have thought.
Yep, also good for loosening tight hamstrings, calves etc. Works well if you have ITBS and lie on your hip with a mat under you, a runner type once told me.

She may well be, but if I were a woman there is no way in hell I would be sitting on a vibrating plate like that in full view of everyone because it's pretty bloody obvious what everyone will think I'm doing it for. biggrin

Got told off at the gym today for bringing a guest in by the manager.

Apparently my membership didn’t allow me to bring guests into the gym, I didn’t know this.
The manager was speaking to me like I was a child in his classroom and that he was my teacher - not sure he realised he was doing this. I was polite, apologised and the manager kindly let us both in and we had a good session.

But it was poor form from the manager in how he dealt with this. He could have been kinder, he could have apologised for their mistake but instead he was condescending and it almost felt like he was blaming me for the gyms error!!

After our session, I said goodbye to my guest and asked to speak with him again. I let him know that the way he spoke to me was out of order and perhaps he needed to have a think about the way in which he speaks to his members. I explained how it was staff who offered the guest pass in the first place, it was the staff who told me I was welcome to bring in 3 guests per month as per my membership. It was the staff who filled out a guest form and set everything up. This wasn’t even the first time I had a guest with me in the gym. The rest of the time it hasn't been a problem.

The manager was extremely defensive, blamed it on the gym being ‘new’ and staff not knowing everything 100%. He did eventually apologise, but I don’t think he sees what the issue was. Either way he needs to ensure his staff are trained appropriately to know the differences between the memberships and ensure this doesn't happen to people.

I know they’re struggling to pick up new members and he’s not helping himself with his attitude.

Still like the gym and happy that he knows he can't speak to me like that. Anyway, rant over.

hmmm, def not a great attitude! Doesn't really sound like he'll be changing his attitude either. What gym was this?

Probably saw you putting your feet all over the head section on the benches and thought I'd have that next time

Sweat! Sutton. It's actually been a very good gym. It's cheap, well equipped and clean. Just disappointed with his attitude today.

An increasing number of people who wear beanie type hats in the gym (why the hell would you want to do that?) but then put their headphones on over the top of them.

Am I missing something?
Guy in the gym yesterday: woolly hat, then hoodie hood up, then headphones over the top of the lot.

Doing those funny, little, third of a full ROM, seated dumbbell shoulder presses that seem so popular with the bruvvers.

Maybe he was targeting a certain part of his shoulders, as for his regalia who gives a fk (apart from you obviously)

I find the idea of sitting down to train a bit silly. We sit all week at work and then go and sit down to exercise.

You'll feel the same about the bench press variations then? I mean, since we spend at least 6 hours per night lying down.

To be honest I do loads of exercises sitting down. Shoulder press, bench press, curls, seated rows......I’m sure there are numerous others. Sitting down allows you to isolate certain muscle groups.
