That reminds me of something.
Many years ago before I had a clue about anything gym related I setup one of those pull up bars in a door frame in my house. After a few weeks of counting pull ups and doing endless sit ups and crunchies I saw a pair of gravity boots for sale and bought them home. I was well excited about having a go so I stuck some loud music on, clipped onto the bar, hung at full stretch and started doing inverted sit ups for all I was worth, you can probably guess the rest.
The final rep was to failure and I collapsed down completely spent fighting to get some breath back, then thought "Oh st!".
I could not reach back up to the bar, got panicky, tried too many times too quickly and started to feel very odd. Music was blaring so even my nearest neighbour wouldn't have heard me shouting, I was only wearing a pair of shorts and had sweaty legs and hands. I felt myself swimming into a feint, I didn't have the strength left to brace against the slippery door frame and my concentration started drifting. I have no idea how I found the strength for one last, desperate try but I managed to get a finger on one boot followed by another curled around the bar. Lifted out and pretty much dropped into a heap on the floor.
Next job was to hang a length of rope from the bar with knots tied in it obviously.
Sounds rather funny and stupid looking back but it was a really close call, I think I came pretty near to an unpleasant ending that afternoon. Careful with those gravity boots!
THat's brilliant. biggrin I do sets, not to failure, so I've usually got enough pep for one last desperate attempt, plus I do them at the gym on a frame where I could grab the side bar, and if needed, could pull up via that, not had to do it yet. I also like hanging upside down, but 3x1minute, don't really wanna end up like a big flitch of bacon. biggrin

Actually, thinking about it, if anybody's scales are likely to read on the "generous" side, it will be gym scales. biggrin
My gym scales said i had lost weight, bit disappointed seeing that i'm trying to remain the same weight if not pack on a little. I'm eating and eating and eating and it keeps going down lol.

long story short, dude drove 700m from his house to the gym (i know this as he almost T-Pac Maneuvered my car due to him not looking when pulling away from the curb) then spent 1-2 minutes on the treadmill walking as a warm up.

moan 2, Dad teaching his sons(?) how to train or training with them has them in belts for squatting less than bodyweight
Said Dad spatial awareness was shocking as he stood in 'my' squat area - if i unracked and stepped back and squatted, id have gone down through his head etc. Maybe the gyms fault due to the way the squat racks are but at the same time, come the fk on

However, theres a few gym fitties at this gym so might stay and atleast frogeye isnt there anymore

Why would you? eek
Because there is no accounting for the feral habits of some mongrels. I've seen these types whip out a razor in the sauna and have a shave (face). Disgusting.

I'd have said something, it's one thing for people to do stupid stuff to themselves but people getting close to you when squatting or doing anything overhead are complete tards.

My passive aggressive nature multiples with that sort of behaviour. A month or so ago some fkwit walked too close just as I power snatched to transition to an OHS. I'm on an Olympic platform, there was no reason for the bloke to be so close but I saw in the mirror that he visibly had to duck/move to the right. I don't know how close it was, but I had wished that 60kg shooting up in the air had hit him. OHS are damn hard enough without having to keep an eye on aholes walking too close.

If I have to use a commercial gym I really notice the lack of etiquette and people doing stupid st like that. Walking close behind you, setting up to work out right in your eyeline or within arm's reach. I had one person sit there watching me warm up to jerk doubles at 100kg, then drag a bench right in front of the platform to do kickbacks or something. I'm like, you physically moved a bench from a safe spot to workout in a place where you could be crushed to death. Good job.

Current moans,

People having their kids with them and not controlling them, not the well behaved ones who trot round the track but the ones who let a 5 year old charge round a place full of dangerous equipment, or who leave a group of three ten or so year old boys to mess about with aforementioned dangerous equipment.

Still the blokes who despite people bringing small girls in the changing rooms walk round with it all hanging out, I know its a mens changing room but do that anywhere else in front of a small girl you would be signing the sex offenders register, its either very naive or pervy.

Not a moan but special mention tot he guy doing multiple set of "Press ups", but all he did really was sort of move his head and enough of his torso to peck at the floor like some insane bird, reminded me of Vyvyan from the Young Ones showing his sexual technique off.

Odd one from me the other night...

Was squatting but feeling tired (managed up to 5x5@100 before calling it)

However decided to hit the same 5x5 on the leg ext. on my way out.

I sit down and notice the guy on the incline bench to my 1 o'clock staring at me.

Like, proper staring.

I didn't get the 'he wants to fk me' vibe. He immediately starts to message someone, still looking at me

I do one set, look up and he's staring again.

Start a 2nd set and see him position his phone (in a folding wallet case) on his knees and angle it in my direction and take a pic.

I just asked outright 'Why are you taking pics???'

'I'm not taking a pic, why would i do that?'

'Exactly my fking question, and you were taking a pic...'

Really odd. I finished up and left, still getting the eye from him

Sorry for that, mate. I can get a bit 'stary' sometimes.

Anyway, your knob had fallen out the inside of your shorts and I was just filming it for YT laugh

Can I moan about my actual gym and not the members?

They're obviously struggling to sign members so I feel for them but at the same time I have a feeling they might be breaking advertising rules.

When I signed up in October 2018 it was no joining fee and then £22 per month for rolling monthly gym access - no contract, no guest passes, no class access. Full access was no joining fee £20 per month.

I decided I wanted to have guest access so signed up for an annual 12 month membership. Prices had risen so I ended up paying £22 a month with no joining fee as I was already a member.

Shortly after they stopped selling monthly memberships and annual price went up to £24 a month. Then started monthlies again upping the price to £28 per month + a £15 joining fee (apparently reduced from £32 a month, although I've never seen it at £32!)

The current offer is £10 joining fee, pay nothing until May 2019 and then £23 a month for 6 months!

Another local gym shut down so my gym has been trying to poach members and has been offering a special offer for those people. Nobody knows what the special offer is because they're not saying - you have to DM them on Instagram to ask for details! All very secretive.

Let's not start on the constant harassment of emails I get weekly which I can't seem to unsubscribe from, the multiple attempts by the gym to follow me on Instagram and even the gym manager has tried to follow me too.

I know it doesn't affect me at all but it's all a bit annoying. I wish they wouldn't keep constantly changing their pricing and were open about deals.

I'm happy with what I pay. £22 a month for full access to the gym is good value - I go roughly 16 times a month so it's less than £2 a visit but still get annoyed about the constant price changes and marketing.

Sorry!

fking hell. They're having fun with pricing strategies. Not entirely sure what's going on apart from them pissing off current members, though.

Oh and if you can't unsubscribe, it's a GDPR issue.

They've decided we're all deaf at my gym & cranked the music up to 11.
Oh do fk off! Think my hearing has gotten more sensitive as I've become older.

Time for some noise cancelling headphones I feel!
And to think I've always looked strangely at people wearing them whilst working out. The sweat must play havoc with the headband & earpad material?

Had similar a while back and eventually asked the guy "Can I help you with something?"

Turns out he was slightly autistic. I felt terrible as I'm very close to a young man who is autistic!

What could possibly go wrong...

you defence in court.

subs. Iused to work at and work out at DL. THey are the biggest sneaks when it comes to monthly subs, always trying to stick it to you for the highest. At one point a total fitness closed down near my branch, and DL offered half price membership, members were livid. biggrin

hate themusic at the gym, it's not a disco and they wack it up in the evening, makes it almost unbearable. Been this arvo and it was very quiet, brilliant. Still had my earphones in though, it helps, I'm a sweater so I wear a headband so my sweat doesn't corrode the earphones (which it has done)

Father and sons again last night, this time using belt and knee wraps at 100kg. Oh do fk off - maybe im just a powerhouse but was recommended to start wrapping up the knees at 2x bodyweight
After squatting they switched to good mornings, sans belt, nicely rounded lower back at the bottom of the bend over

Couple on the leg press doing few inches ROM with a PT in attendance, though they did they padded hack squat machine thing bit later on and the PT correct the girls form as she was rounding her bum at the bottom

Frogeye man is back

Where can you get short shorts to show of my manly thighs without your junk popping out when doing anything other than standing still?
