I today I priced up 25kg x 2 plates. They seem to be averaging £200 + postage.

That is literally fking mental.

Anyone have any suggestions for cheap bd like me beyond keeping an eye on Gumtree?

At this point I'm speaking to an engineer buddy about getting something fabricated...
That is ridiculous!

£80 apiece for 25kg rubber-coated Oly plates at Powerhouse. I can't remember if that's more or less than I paid for the ones I bought back in March.

There's various powerlifting for sale type groups on Facebook.

Pisstakers (price wise) don't tend to last that long.

Someone is selling adjustable 2-24kg dumbs for 250. Not sure if thats good or bad

That's actually not bad.

Ok, not exactly bargain territory either, but doesn't seem totally outlandish.

That still seems bloody high for a couple of bits of simply-shaped metal who's only function is to be heavy.

How much is 20/25kg of raw material anyway?

ETA I just googled. Those prices for machined, shaped lumps of precisely weighted metal aren't that bad. Who knew? rofl

I still think the cost of the stuff is daft - but it does seem to be commonplace.

Heigh-ho, at least our kit is getting used every day, and making space for it motivated me to clear about 20 years' worth of ste out of the shed.

Gym this afternoon for legs. Only three others in there. It was stinking hot, something about not allowed to use the aircon. Fair enough. Why no doors or windows open and only recirculating filthy air? Only 11 degrees outside and in the corridors yet gym was above 25 I'd guess.
I always used to turn the AC off when the electricity bill was high and admissions low.

Trotted our the normal rubbish excuses to customers.

Broken, being serviced, need to sweat etc.

yes

"needs servicing"
"poor installation"
"the sun's too strong shining in through the winows"
"filters need cleaning"
"too few units"

etc etc

And of course when it’s cold

Work harder
Do some Cardio
I’ve put the heating on (I hadn’t)
Heatings broken
Arnold trained with ice on the windows
You need to toughen up
Most of the customers want it cold (they didn’t)

And other rubbish.

Don’t even ask the nonsense I came out with to get out early on a Friday so I could go and stand at the local grab a granny bar with a full lat spread all evening.

New gym instructor, 20 something Spanish/Portuguese/Latina looks to be a former dancer wearing an over sized shirt covering up her hot pants disappearing up her bum.

When it was just myself and another guy in the room, shirt gets tucked in so you get the view, ladies turning up for her class, shirts untucked instantly

My timings in the gym may or may not coincide with her setting up her class... but tbf, where they train does co-incide with the equipment i need for finishing the programme im on

Also, looks like im going to have to join the PEDS lot, turns out that after 15 years of martials arts training (Jap J-J, BJJ, Thai Boxing, Wrestling) and 10+ years or amateur American Football, the issue with my left shoulder is apparently at some point in the past i had a partial dislocation or heavy trauma that has resulted in a tear at the rear.

Surgeon is going to inject a steroid into the joint which should help, so im guessing the fluid is going to fill the tear? Code is W9030 for those in the know

wiping down the the plates with the anti-bac spray, what a pain in the arse that is.

Dont mind doing the benches, dumbs etc but wiping down every plate you use is a chore. Plus if theyre rubber, its not going to do much anyway.

Or the tits who just spray the handles with the solution but dont wipe down.

Strangely though, im using Big Ben's Ultra tacky chalk, which never used to be super tacky, but its reacting with the solution from the people not wiping down correctly, and becoming tacky.

We've also had a fitness/youtube star join the gym, 2.2m followers on Insta but you'd never suspect it looking at her, ie she pretty/toned etc but no fake boobs or apparent surgery

If i'm going gym just to do cardio, ill wipe down the elliptical or rowing machine i'm going ot use.. as that's the only thing ill be touching the entire time I'll be there.

Lifting? don't see the point. wipe the bar, plus the plates and grips.. I see alot of people wipe down the isolation equipment, which i can understand..fair enough. They'll wipe the seat and places for your hands...but nobody wipes down the pin for adjusting the weights.

Still amazes me that ordinary people can make millions without working simply by posting retouched pictures of themselves on the internet!
