Anyone else doing this, or something else like the Bill Starr 5x5?
Just begun week 1 cycle 1. Just press and deads so far; bench Sunday and squat Monday. Really enjoyed the progress when I last did W531.
FTR, just done a short stint on SL5x5 to get back under the bar and again found it very useful as it ramps up pretty swiftly.
Really looking forward to the next few cycles.
Deadlifts - 5x5 starting with 100 and finishing with 120kg.
After the 5 main sets I then had a go with 130kg, a PB. Felt a little dizzy after that...
Barbell Press - 5 sets of 5-10 reps from 50-57.5kg
Shoulder Shrugs - 5 sets of 9-12 from 80-100kg
Close Grip Bench Press - 5 sets of 7-12 reps with 60kg
Triceps Pull Downs - 5 sets of 8-10 reps with 30-32.5kg
Chin Ups - 4 sets of 8-10
Reverse Grip Pull Downs - 5 sets of 10 with 55kg
Preacher Curls (with EZ Curl bar) - 4 sets of 12 reps from 35-45kg
Knacked.

Group turbo session No 3 last night - concentrating more on speed rather than power. Hard barely covers it. Avg heart rate 169, max 188. Very pleased.
This afternoon gym - circuits involving mostly bench press, weighted dips, weighted pullups, some arm work and core. Left the gym ridiculously pumped.

Ha she probably wouldn't be too happy about that! For your imagination she's about 5 ft 2, Indian, a personal trainer (at Leeds uni where I'm an SnC coach) and in great shape.
Does that mean I could sneak in a deadlift session in your gym when I'm in Leeds next Tuesday? Today's effort...
Squats - happy with the way these are building up comfortable. Back if feeling good, so I'll prob build up to bigger weights next week then get into a full program after that
3 x 5 at 160kg
Bench
Up to doubles at 130kg - happy with that
Shoulder press
Up to triples at 75kg
Upright row
3 x 5 at 60kg
I love StrengthShop and all, but I've just tried to get a plyo box from them and they want £50 for delivery! That's mental - I know it probably costs a bit to post, but I'm sure it would cost me that, or less, to post it with Royal Mail. Every other gym equipment site offers free delivery, or much much cheaper than this. Pretty frustrating as I just want to buy their stuff, but simply refuse to payy silly money for delivery, especially when it makes it SO much more expensive than the competition. This was the reason I didn't buy my KBs from them, they wanted £25 delivery (might have be £29) and the place I got it from delivered for free, and the KBs were cheaper in the first place - I was willing to pay the little extra for the KBs as I rate the shop, but with the shipping it just made it too much of an extra cost. I actually emailed them stating this, and asked if they would consider a cheaper postage and they would get my business - they wouldn't budge.
I could collect from motherwell, but that's a bit of a trek from Leeds!
Just wrote this rant and realised the KBs from the previous order were still in my basket. With them out, it's £20 for delivery. Still pretty steep but not so rant endusing. I feel like sinse I typed all that, I'm still going to post it....

Yesterday - gym session as follows:
Pullups - 3 x 15
Dips - 2 x 50
3 x bench - 85kg
And some arm work thrown in too.
This morning - 103km on the bike, fairly lumpy, 800m of climbing, average speed nudging 32kph. Very pleased with that effort.
To the gym this evening, more or less a repeat of yesterday.

Swam a mile, cycled 30.
Btw - does anyone know any tips for keeping your feet locked into the Concept rowing machines! So frustrating having to stop ever few hundred meters to tighten straps before ur feet fully drop out
The gym needs to replace the straps. Simple as that. They can look okay but if they're easily coming undone then they need replacing. It will be like night and day. I've really enjoyed it so far. I think I'll try another two or three cycles and see how I get on but my trainer has a lot of love for Starr 5x5 too so that might feature later on.Really enjoyed the progress when I last did W531.
