I attended my second spinning class last night.

I cycle regularly, but spinning is something very new to me and the intensity of it is taking a bit of getting used to!

I am also going to attend my first Body Pump class tomorrow evening.

I will be 47 at the end of the year and I am determined to build my strength and cardio.

Good stuff!

I wouldnt expect much in the way of strength or muscle gains from something like "Body Pump", though.

Thank you!

My short term goals are:

1. Overcome my fear of the gym and attend regulary;
2. Build my base fitness;
3. Learn the basics.

Once I get these sorted I will move on to other things to build my strength more.

That looks like a solid plan - best of luck smile

Back/biceps today. Knackered. Up at 6am today, well, jumped on at 6am is more accurate. Lots of lat pulldowns to the front. Nice and strict, chin up to mimic chins. Seated rows, single arm. Straight bar cable(stiff arm) push downs.

barbell curls up to 40kg (3 working sets)
a cheeky set of 21s with 8 kg abs, that fkn burnt
concentration curls, 2 sets.
preacher curls using an inclined bench and dbs

a had a pretty crazy pump.

Another hour's swim tonight - love it! I have noticed it helps my lower back recover quicker. In fact, when I finish, all my minor aches have completely disappeared.

Good one today>

Sets x reps

Squat, highbar: 2x2x 250kg
Bench: 2x2x 172.5kg
Dead: 2x1x 280kg

Still feeling a bit worn out, but this was good. If I can do this heavily fatigued at 0500, I'm going to hit some big numbers fresh.
Only gripe today was I had to use the st bench- it has no catchers, it's too high up and you can't set the lift off to the right height- hate it....

All looked good to me. You fluffed the descent slightly on the 1st bench rep and still got it easily.

5am? I would struggle to do a bodyweight squat or a press up! You're inhuman.

DD, what time are you hitting the sack. Is that up at 5am or in the gym for 5? That's got to hurt, nice Scottish winter mornings to come biggrin

Thanks smile

Both reps on the bench were fluffed- couldn't set up like normal, wasn't tight, and everything was slightly off. I knew I'd get them anyway, but not ideal!

It's probably 20kg+ below my max now, so wasn't worried about dropping it. I probably should have been though biggrin

Depends TBH, 9-1030 usually. Up at 4.50, in the gym just after 5- literally put clothes on, caffeine, jump in the car. (That's why I always look a state/just woke up look)

It'll be perpetually dark here soon, so it's easier to be up early biggrin It's Snow that's a PITA, the gritters haven't been out at that time, and it's a long drive on terrible roads after heavy snow...... Still do it though, just get up earlier.
