You're exactly the kind of guy to manage to tear a glute, DD (if that's even possible), so be nice to yourself!
Not a tear- some king of nerve/scar tissue rubbing issue I think. Or a slipped disc, my broken vertebrae, old age, hamstring tear etc etc etc I felt it on my heavy dead last week, after i'd done it. And knew it was going to take a couple of weeks to return to normal. So not altogether a surprise TBH. Just need to give it time before I can do it all again!
Nice session at my new box yesterday (Crossfit Newbury).
6 x 3 deadlifts @ 85%
3 rounds (AMRAP)
1 minute wall balls
1 minute box jumps
1 minute push press (35kg)
1 minute row
1 minute kettle bell swings.
1 minute rest
Got 110 on the first round and realised i'd gone out too hard! suffered on the other two rounds !!

260kg x8 deadlift PB! https://youtu.be/3_A6iEVZzqw
Felt chest tug on rep 7 hence the break then more so on rep 8 so called it. Goal was 10 reps which doing man maths should mean I can do 300x6 which is the goal for Christmas.
Tried doing rows but legs were shot.
145kg 3x6 beltless SSB squats
Lat pull downs
Hammer curls
Done and fked

The rep at circa 20 seconds in is weird. Did you unlock the knees in the middle and use some more leg drive to keep the bar moving? It looks like you have a slow-down in the middle of each rep as you transition from mostly leg and hips to mostly glutes and back - very noticeable shift of pace. Not sure if that is normal and/or optimal. I only comment in case it helps to identify something you can improve even further.
Excellent work, as ever!

I have a massive dead zone around knee height, if there isn't enough speed to carry it through I unintentionally "ramp" the bar up.
It's something I've improved on massively but still happens near max effort.
Cheers though I'm always looking to improve!

Strange given that you have such fast bar speed, that you hitch a bit. It could be a technical issue (but no idea what).I have a massive dead zone around knee height, if there isn't enough speed to carry it through I unintentionally "ramp" the bar up.

Can anyone recommend me a decent all-purpose belt? Now that I'm almost middle-aged and starting to lift relatively heavy loads, I'm getting a bit paranoid about my back!
What's your measurements for where you wear it?I've got a small and medium single prong left (they're larger than standard sizes) going for £50 posted. Lifetime warranty, 13mm thick single piece leather. What I was using on my deadlift vid
Otherwise depends what your budget is!

I struggle to grind and my aim was to be as quick as possible on these reps. I find unless I specifically aim to not ramp the bar, it just happens. Could be starting position or a weakness which I suspect it is. smiffy180 said:

Ok, there’s the basic foundations to a good lift, and that’s fine, but after that, the subtleties of what works for person A may not work for person B and so forth. I think it’s easy to get caught in the trap of looking at a lift and comparing it to what one would regard as textbook form.
Sure - perfect form will be slightly different for everyone, but efficiency is efficiency. There is an inefficiency or weakness somewhere that is making Ben hitch. If he can find out what it is, he can get closer to perfect form for him.
It also kinda depends what you are trying to achieve - 'perfect' squats for maximum weight lifted are different from perfect squats for hypertrophy or fitness or long term health, etc. Likewise for bench press. Most of us would bench more with a bigger arch and wider grip but it would knacker our joints; most of us would squat more with a wider stance and lower bar position, but it will knacker your hips and shoulders, etc.
Gotta love Ben's deadlift speed! He is faster at 70% than I am at 50%, by a mile.

I'd say you've summed it up great. Just leverage that makes everyone look different.
I always advise people to do textbook form to begin with to develop then find your groove once you've established a base.
I plan to make my 300kg for reps just as quick
Inspired by DD I tried some standing to lying roll outs with my trusty wheel. I did half a dozen which weren’t too hard but still working the abs. I checked the Instagram tapes and saw that the knee is not meant to touch. Oh!!! I managed 2, shaking like a stting dog. That was yesterday and I have doms city

Good work. My abs are still fking painful! Sore to touch.....I need to do them more often to avoid it. A bit overzealous for getting back into it Edited by Burwood on Wednesday 18th October 21:38
