Just got back from my 3 day break in the UK, mission certainly accomplished as far as weight gain is concerned. Weight is up to 82.5kg - that's from a fraction below 80kg on Wednesday. Certainly let rip on the diet front. Aside from a 6km walk around Sandhurst on Thursday morning, absolutely no cardio for the last 72 hours.

Popped to the gym this evening after getting off the boat, felt refreshed and strong, and looking forward to the next few weeks.

On a side note, how do any of you get anything done in the UK? The roads are a fking nightmare!

Monday was bench and deadlifts and OHS, Wednesday was Front Squats and Push Press and Power Cleans plus extras.
Getting back into regular weights/squats really affects parkrun, which I did this morning. Had to stop twice...not done that for a loooong time, quads so tired

And Ser Animal...I salute you, I did Circus Maximus today after parkun, did my 250 swings, and then circuit...did 9 rounds in 25 mins, thought, hey gonna do this....so I stopped looking at the clock...finished....looked at the clock....38 mins....

I doth my cap

I can't believe you did it after your other stuff! It's one of those workouts that gets really bad, really fast. Try it fresh and you'll be under 30 mins I bet.

How do people sit and do nothing for a week?

I threw the towel in this week. Struggling on with my shoulder which is yo-yo'ing between feeling good and feeling like someones jammed a screw driver in the socket. I had been taking it easy in the pool and just doing rotator cuff exercises and stretches in the gym. But finally just decided to sod it and do nothing and let it rest (well took the opportunity to use the time to get other things sorted).

I. Feel. Awful.

I can't wait to get back in the gym properly and back in the pool properly.

Today's workout was hard to get into as I had quite a lazy and relaxing weekend...

Back extensions -2x25

Squats - 3x12-8 and 3x5-3 reps

BB Clean and Press - 5x8-5 reps

Superset:
Bench Press (with BB chains) - 5x12-4 reps (3x12, 1x6 and 1x4 reps)
Wide grip Pull Up (back on neck to bar) - 5x12-8 reps

T-bar Row (close grip)- 5x12-8 reps
Seated Pulley Row (wide grip) - 4x12-10 reps

Workout last night after 3 nights of very little sleep. Very tough. I felt very weak.

Deads: 5 x 3 @ 120kg

OHP: 5 x 60kg

Various rows (including chest supported, which dont seem to suit my shoulders).

Face pulls: 3 x 20
Curls: 3 x 10 @ 35kg

Ive noticed that my biceps dont respond much to training at all - they dont get bigger from chins or weighted chins or even curls, and my curl numbers never go up. By contrast, my triceps grow and get stronger pretty much no matter what I do with them (high reps, low reps, lots of assistance exercises, no assistance, etc.)

I thought biceps were the bodybuilder's dream muscle? Respond to everything, etc?

My regular gym had reopened after a refurbishment. Thought you find this interesting. It’s run by Godalming council. It’s only 3-4 years old. Everything binned and new stuff brought it. They sold it for next to nothing. Precor treadmills 150 quid. New one 7k. Nothing at all wrong with it. The entire DB rack x 2, 7k to buy sold 100 quid. Made me a bit annoyed actually. Typical waste of money. I told the manager, when you bin this stuff next year give me first dibs

They ‘sold’ to a company that turned up and stripped the entire gym and gave them 7k

And the company gave the manager who signed the deal another £2k.

This morning:

2x24kg dumbbell push press x 10
Row 2 mins (min 500m)
Rest 2 mins
3 rounds
1x24kg goblet squat x 10
Row 2 mins (min 500m)
Rest 2 mins
3 rounds

I managed to get above 500m per row for every interval for the first time today and actually managed 550 for one of them.

270kg x5 PB https://youtu.be/ztM94Pl9Hxg
Norovirus last week killed me off, 5kg down in weight!
Wasn't expecting this many reps to be honest considering. Can see it's slowed me down drastically.
Also fell foul of my own product - nose napalm (a very strong smelling salt).
Took too hard a hit laugh
Road to 300x6 for Christmas continues! smile

Great stuff, Ben! Really progressing despite the Ebola virus.

Workout with a PT at the gym near work today. I don't really like being told what to do, but it's a good gym.

Squats: 5 x 5 @ 105kg
S/S with DB incline press: 4 x 8 @ 25kg

Bench press: 5 x 5 @ 90,95,100,100kg
S/S with walking lunges: 15kg DBs

Surprisingly hard workout. Not sure why, really. All the weights are at or below what I would normally do easily.

Cheers, it's probably the worst bug I've ever had!
Don't usually get ill though, I blame the child; since she came along I catch everything laugh

Those are some decent numbers!
I've found you can get used to your gym set up and a different gym with different bars/plates can make things feel heavier?

I'll take that excuse!

Goal at the start of the year was a 454kg total, and I'm not far off. Current E 1RMs: BP 125kg, DL 170kg, squat 145kg: total 440kg. 14kg isn't much to add in 2 months. I would also like to hit a 200kg TB deadlift (my current favourite lift).

Trap bar. It solves the grip problem I have with BB deadlifts (because I don't do mixed grip & have no interest in straps).

Just get some straps tongue out

No, not many have but seems you need to be pulling at least 440 now to keep up with the top strongmen. I'm aiming to pull 400 without gear which should see a 420+ in a suit.
Then look at the steroid route if needed but realistically I'd be happy with just making it to world's strongest man smile
