Trap bar. It solves the grip problem I have with BB deadlifts (because I don't do mixed grip & have no interest in straps).
Hook grip?

I am not keen on mixed myself for reps, but if I have to, then I alternate the mixed grip top ensure balance on equal reps. It does force one to do a true deadlift too and no bouncy deads.

I mix it all up between; pronated, mixed, powergrabs and hook.

Good week of training so far, recovery ride on Monday for an hour with my wife followed by pull ups and press ups at home. Then yesterday two rides (listed below) first one was a one hour road ride and the second was a near hour on Zwift - the last 23 minutes being extremely tough. Managed to bag 2nd fastest time around the London Loop - 23 mins of utter pain that I won't be repeating again for a while. Well, probably tomorrow. biggrin

Bodyweight holding at 80kg, hoping for it to creep up slowly but surely.

I might do if I really wanted to use a BB, but I actually think TB deadlifts are a better exercise:

(1) Power generation is higher (it's a faster lift at any given weight).
(2) It has slightly better transfer to squats.
(3) It allows heavier weights to be used for the back.
(4) It is far less risky for the lower back (especially if you decide to take a more upright stance).
(5) Neutral grip is much better for desk jockies' shoulders.

It is only slightly worse in terms of posterior chain activation, too, so not much of a downside. For me at least, getting stronger and TB deads has also increased my BB deadlift.

Trained at a "the gym" today.
I don't think I've ever rated a puregym/24hr gym before but I was genuinely surprised at how decent it was considering.
£14 a month, 24hr and decent kit.
Dumbbells only go to 38kg which isn't an issue currently as I'm rehabbing chest and can use bar for anything else heavy.
Bars are wolverson which is a semi decent make, they have I'm guessing around 250kg in bumpers + a good tonne in other plates.
The accessories machines go to 100kg+ and lots of variations plus plate loaded variations too.

Going to train here for a bit and see how training progresses with the extra variations of lifts being available.

Strict press 3x6 @85kg
Seated dumbbell press 3x6 @32kg
Incline dumbbell press 3x8 @28kg
Lots of accessories work on fancy equipment biggrin
Lots of chatting to the PT's too laugh

My regular gym is a pure, for the price and location, it's unbeatable.
It has a power rack with 210 of OW and there are many other regular 25kg weights, DBs go up to 48 now I think, which is decent.
Plus they have a climbing frame which I love.
The only downside to Pure is the no bag rule.

Yeah they have the no bag rule here too.
I can compromise though for the set up and cost.
There's 2 power racks here but they're high enough to do overhead press inside of too!

Just to make sure, I mean no punching heavy bag.
I do take my holdall and carry it around the gym for the days when I need all my gadgets.

Thanks guys! smile

I did less heavy singles than usual, so as not to tire myself too much, so I did (after 3 warm up sets) 1x105, 115, 125, 135 and 145kg, followed by drop sets with ever decreasing weight until 100kg.

Really good few days of training, hilly ride with the guys Thursday night, felt good to get off zwift and get a decent sweat on - on the road. To the gym yesterday, smashed up my chest, insane pump. Pic below.

https://www.instagram.com/p/BbCb3lMhi5f/?hl=undefi...

Then this morning an hour's easy road ride again but with my wife, then back to the gym this afternoon. Tested out a new pre-workout supplement and it's called 'Muscle Rage Limitless'. fk me almost blew my head off. Absolutely wired. One of the best back workouts I've ever had - crazy.

Really feel I've got some huge lifts in me - looking forward to getting some PRs.
