Yesterday was one of the first days when I thought "how amazing would it be if they are able to get this tumour out of me and I stop being sick and return to normal!!"

That'd be simply amazing. Tomorrow is D-day I guess, though I don't expect to hear from them for another day or two.

Thanks for the kind words and thoughts chaps, means a lot. And Goldblum - good to hear your experiences, and that you're back to normal now.

Wishing you all the best. My friend is in a similar position, he's going back for another scan soon to see if the tumour has grown at all. It feels a lonely place when you're ill, but the doctors will do there utmost to do whats best smile

Best of luck and keeps us updated.

How peculiar life is that the thing that has been causing you so much discomfort is the thing that has led to a possible life saving outcome.

All the best, heres looking forward to a bile-free future

Have they suggested any treatment yet? My wife has a brain tumour in a similarly inoperable place and it was decided in the end to use gamma knife treatment. This worked in that it stopped to tumour from growing any larger and it actually shrunk a little. Ten years later and it is still okay. Most of the side-effects didn't occur, apart from a slight change in personality frown

Good luck with whatever they suggest.

Not as yet. I shall hopefully find out more within 1-2 days. Just hope it's something they can get sorted. I'm getting properly fed up with feeling ill all the bloody time, it's really depressing.

My registrar sent me an email earlier and confirmed it was a tumour of th 4th ventricle (not between it and cerebellum) but said he wasn't sure at this stage what type of tumour it was.

I will almost certainly get a call tomorrow.

The most common type of tumour of this place has a post-op 1 year survival rate of approx 82%. To be fair, I quite like those odds. Oh, it does look like surgery is the option for the most common type.... I use stop looking though because I don't know if it's even that yet! Fingers crossed for the best!

Hi Mate

My experience of the NHS is they are absolutely outstanding when it comes to this kind of stuff - you are in safe hands.

Best of luck with it all.

Sorry to read this, I was only thinking about you and your car the other day while watching Cain Dingle's getting put through its paces on Emmerdale.

Hope they can fix your swede.

I found this thread after your comments on the best smoker barges thread, but didn't really want to post in there. I don't know you from adam, but I can only wish you the very best of luck with whatever you have to go through over the coming months. How bittersweet to finally get an explanation of what it is after suffering for well over a year with this, only to find out it's something quite awful and potentially life threatening.

A good friend at work collapsed at work several years ago after steadily worsening symptoms over a period of months. His GP kept telling him it was stress, etc etc but they subsequently found he had a huge brain tumour. He had a rough few months of surgery, chemo, and so forth but they basically sorted him right out. He was off work for some time (6-9 months if I remember correctly) but has now been back for a couple of years with no signs of it reoccurring and is in great shape.

Modern medicine is pretty incredible - I hope they can put it to good use on you, and cure you of this.

Good luck.
