Not Sure what to think of this....

As some of you know I'm quite an active individual usually but done sod all last few weeks and not been eating my normal amount because of that but have still been eating a decent amount of bad food like cakes, biscuits etc etc yet I've actually lost a kilo. I'm already quite light (now just 8 stone 9lbs) admittedly only 5ft 6 but don't want to lose any more weight.
Make sure a medical professional knows about it - someone closely involved with your case.

Did you go as far as listing the ingredients? It could be a modified starch, a stabiliser or even an artificial sweetner, don't rule out the fact that just because you've always eaten something you haven't become intolerent to It. You may want to speak with you GP about following an exclusion diet, or you could try only eating foods which have not been through any processing.

In order to cut a long story short(er)

I had stomach pain from around August last year to December similar to what i imagine IBS feels like. It turns out i was having a reaction to wheat brought on by me taking sandwiches to work every single day, it was only after about 3 months that i reached my tolerance and i started getting pain (moved house in May which prompted the change in diet)

From August to December i had blood, stool samples all negative and an ultrasound which could find no problem and the docs were all out of ideas.

It did take 3-4 days of not eating bread before the pain stopped and i twigged what it was.

When you made your food diary, were you eating different amounts to what you used to eat before the nausia?

Have any of the blood tests revealed any inflammation?

Nope, ESR was normal. 2 weeks today until gastroscopy. And yes, I was sick again this morning frown

If it was food intolerance why would it not happen after meals and only ever in the morning?? If it were, surely if I ate the food to which I was intolerant to at lunch I'd be sick later on early evening?

Not sure why but it was always worse in the mornings and the pain died away during the day, despite me eating bread at lunch time.

I never had the intolerance confirmed by a doctor as they were useless in the first place so didn't think it worth it!

Bare in mind I get absolutely no pain....

Hope the gastroscopy finds something. I don't want a camera the other way if I can avoid it hehe

You'd think so wouldn't you.

Crohns is quite hard to detect but if there's no inflammation it's unlikely AFAIK. I'm sure it's nothing to do with that though.

I'm still going with the virus diagnosis.

It'll get sorted soon, try not to get too pissed off.

I was wondering how you were getting on - sounds incredibly frustrating.

As a "sporty" person who spent a year being repeatedly ill before finally nailing the problem, I really do feel your pain.

Ross, you've been through a hell of a lot, you must be at your wits end (I nearly said "sick and tired, dear oh dear). This is entirely empiricle but hey what else can you do at the moment?

Why not try cutting gluten out of your diet for just three days whilst waiting for those results and see what happens? Probably nothing, your symptoms certainly aren't exactly what you'd expect but you never know. I suddenly became horribly intolerant to it but blood tests and even gastroscopy/coloscopy came up with nothing.

I seem to remember you did mention eating sandwiches when it came on.

Sorry was that for Ross? I had the blood test and it came up negative but it often can for intolerance rather than coeliac.

Good luck Ross

I had IBS for a couple of months, was never that "bad" just annoying, took about 3 months for my stomach to get back to normal . Not saying you have IBS at all , but it takes the body a long time to "reset"

All done, decided on throat spray instead of sedation...

Pyloric sphincter isn't shutting allowing bile to come into stomach which is irritating it. That has led to bacterial infection too they think so have taken a biopsy.

At least it found the problem and will start medication soon but will Annoyingly have to wait 10 days.

On the plus side I can think of worse sphincters that could fail.

Result. Glad it's nothing more serious. Long term prognosis?

Indeed, I was pretty chuffed with that outcome to be honest.

Long term not entirely sure just yet. May need to take meds daily indefinitely, have to wait a couple of weeks to find out but I see todays news as good news.

Thanks chaps.
