Had mine done on a Friday lunchtime..... No pain at all apart from the 12inch needle used to put anaesthetic in my groin... a bit of tugging around and all done.

I got checked by the nurse and then drove home. Misses didn't believe i'd had it done until I showed her the handywork smile

After that...no pain at all and back at work on Monday. Back in the Gym on Tuesday.

Damn sight less painful that the female version I bet, but good luck and hope it goes well.

Why?
Just the thought of the procedure

Missus can’t wait so there’s a plus got to have phone consultation on may 26th then procedure on July 6th

The wife’s face wasn’t impressed when the nurse said you have to have complete bed rest for 2 days after!

Done under local anaesthetic about 30 years ago. The testicular injection was painful (twice) but no bother other than that. I chatted to the surgeon and he showed me the little bits of tube removed - vas deferens, I think- which I thought was fascinating. I drove home around 35 miles a bit uncomfortable, but that wore off in a day or two. It was a Friday, so back to work on Monday!

The thought is worse than the experience.

My best advice is that you take it easy for three or four days after the op.
I didn't, re my previous post.

I'll repeat my advice soothers in this thread: wear Speedos for a few days after the op.
Keep your balls as close as possible to your body!
Don't over exert....take it easy.
UNlike a friend of mine who felt fine, then spent a day digging his garden over. Bad move!

When you feel ready for some hanky pinky, bag up.
Don't go bare back until you've been given the zero swimmers confirmation. smile

Had a non scalpel vasectomy yesterday, it was an incredibly easy and straightforward procedure. Only took about 6 weeks from my initial request. There was a little discomfort from the local anaesthetic and the man handling, but was an absolute doddle, with the procedure itself only taking about 10 minutes and the whole visit was only about an hour. Feeling a bit sore today, but going to take it easy this weekend.

Should have had it done years ago.

Mine hurt like a bd. It was like they swapped the anaesthetic for water :0

A PC on my shift had the procedure and turned up to hand in a sick note with his leg in plaster.

It seemed he was a bit tender post op in the locations targeted, and was walking down stairs. His odd gait made him trip.

Take care out there.

So my turn is coming around I’m in next Wednesday on 6th July and I’ll be honest I’m crapping myself, doesn’t help that my brother in law has had it done and had loads of little cyst like lumps ever since (apparantly balls of hard sperm or something)
How common is that? He’s constantly freaking out over it!

Also I’m booked in for the afternoon and I’m having Thursday Friday off work for complete rest! But on the Sunday I’m meant to be flying a helicopter for 2hrs is this advisable? I would only be sat there at the controls nothing major if I’m honest!

Help ease my mind about it all I’m literally bricking it

I was done a long time ago. Our GP used to do vasectomies in the local surgery! I had it done in hospital under local anaesthetic - it was a bit painful getting the injection, but otherwise no problem and a quick recovery, and I drove myself home. The surgeon was quite chatty when he realised I wasn't fazed by the procedure and talked through what he was doing, and even showed me the little bit of vas deferens he cut out. I have a really old "Britannica" from 1763, I think, and we chatted about the surgery section in that - real cringeworthy stuff in those days!
So don't worry.

I had mine on a friday, numbing injection tickled a little but the op was easy, got a brew and some toast after. walked out of hospital and got picked up with no issues. Back in work on the Monday and back riding the bare backed beast on the wednesday (even though i shouldnt have been).

Never had any side effects or anything, the most uncomfortable thing about the whole things was handing a sample jar of warm sperm over to an elderly woman at the hospital for checking biggrin

Condoms are still required to prevent STIs, though..

I had mine done in the local surgery in 1998 by my GP. Horrendous experience pain wise. In relation to the piece they cut out, he dropped it on the floor so that was funny as they scrambled around trying to find it.

Conversely I had mine done in 2013, sharp scratch, a few days on the sofa, back ‘on games’ within a week.

No long term issues (in a pain or family tree context).

Highly recommended.

I had a bit of occasional pain down there for about a year, then all of a sudden I realised it had gone.

My mate was put to sleep for his and had problems with an infection that took a while to sort.

My wife's friend's husband went straight back to work driving a bin lorry and had issues.

Follow the aftercare advice and you should be ok.

My doctor told me mine was some of the best pre-op shaving he had seen. biggrin
