After my park run (and PB smile ) week last Saturday I have felt nothing better than total st.

Started with a tight chest just after my run (it was fecking freezing that morning!), then coughing and bringing up lime green gunk from time-to-time. No infection according to the doctor which is good but I feel drained and just st. I've now spent most of the night on the toilet depositing what can only be described as the contents of an old radiator into the bowl.

I'm hoping I'll be on the mend shortly and will feel like enjoying the Xmas break which is traditionally the one time of year we can relax before work kicks off again in January.

I've had a cold on and off for 3 weeks now, I'm gettin rather annoyed with feeling like this.

Seems to come on as a cold does for 2-3 days then a few days later comes back onto my sinuses.

Rinse and repeat for the last few weeks.
^ This, but since the end of October. Royally fed up with it now TBH. Hoping to get some rest over the xmas period so I can finally knock it on the head, not sure how likely that is with two hyperactive toddlers in the house though.

Yep - typical, finished my last nightshift on Friday, off for 2 weeks and it hit me yesterday.

Hoping that lots of drugs work, failing that I have an all-day session with the lads on Sat (our annual get together) so I can hopefully kill it with beer.

Was ill for last year's get together so hoping not to repeat it this year frown

The wife had it really badly on Sunday, poor soul, she's 8 1/2 months pregnant too!

Went to the docs this morning, really nice and cheery Doctor which made a nice change. 21 amoxicillin tablets to pick up later should hopefully kick this into touch.

What does he think she has, then, as flu and colds are both caused by a virus?

It's trying to hit me, but I'm fighting it! I've had it for about a weak, not necessarily a cold, but it keeps trying to start.

It's that feeling in the back of your throat, like swollen glands, constantly sucking up mucus from your nose into your throat and feeling way more lethargic than normal.

I'm awful in the morning, but once I'm outta bed and had a coffee I feel almost normal.

Not sure if it's helping, but I started taking a few supplements before bed before this 'cold' started and I've staved it off so far. Fingers crossed.

As a kid I would get flu-like around this time of year every year - I'd be stuck in bed shivering one minute and boiling hot the next.

I hope you get better man!

I'm pretty sure I have full blown flu. Never experienced anything like it, came on very quick, nearly three days I've been in bed now. I genuinely cannot move, my chest is unreal how painfull it is. The massive head and body aches seem to have died down a bit today.

My wife and 2 year old had a flu jab, wishing I had. They're up at her mum's, looks like I'm going to be stuck here for Christmas.

Grim. I was feeling woozy and beginnings of a sore throat Monday day. In the evening it came on so suddenly it completely pole axed me. All day Tuesday in bed, managed to get up and out of the house Wednesday morning then spent all pm dozing on sofa. Today the chills and aches are much reduced but my sore throat is still agonising. Got to go to my mums tomorrow but suspect the wife may have the beginnings of it now if so it will just be a flying visit with me taking the kids.

Along with some other issues it has made for a fairly miserable week.

vodka and lucozade.... biggrin
Why bother with the lucozade.......! drunk
Why indeed!

Lucozade many moons ago was bought by many as an aid to health if you were under the weather, had a cold whatever.

I picked a bottle up (Lucozade 'original' as I didn't want the 'energy' version) at an airport meal deal. FM it states now it's for 'healthy people', there is sod all 'original' about it any more, and the pretty orange is got from colouring E110 (Sunset Yellow) which it states on the bottle may have an adverse effect on activity and attention in children.

I decided not to put this crap down my gullet and while sunning myself in Cyprus put some euro coins in a glass of it. Next day they were nice and shiny, so it's good for something. Bit like Coke. No longer in the old glass bottles but in plastic ones and is basically crap. Stick to the Vodka, or better still a hot toddy. The old things are the best. Still!

I can only assume this is Ebola? Started feeling a bit grotty on Sunday evening, thought I had a cold on Monday (sore throat, runny nose and feeling a bit warm), Tuesday Wednesday and Thursday all a bit of a blur. Had a raging temperature and chills, coughing up God knows what, everything hurt including my toes. The hallucinations on Christmas Eve were awesome, I was convinced I was Santa handing out carrots and had no idea who was beside me in bed but as they weren't causing hassle I wasn't going to bother them. Today managed to get out of bed at 3pm and made it to the sofa.

Now the husband has it too.

We're having Christmas next week.

I have had it. It kicked in hard on friday afternoon and pretty much rendered me immobile until today. No runny nose, but raging temperature, headache from hell, dizzyness, very painful cough. I could not get from the sofa to the bedroom for 4 days

Wife and son have it but not quite the same, not so severe but with blocked noses. On christmas eve, we were all so bad that we had to ask the neighbours to get some shopping in for us.

I felt like this for about three weeks; not quite ill enough to not go about my business but not well enough to hit the gym.

The sore throat finally disappeared yesterday so hopefully it's all over now.

10k on the treadmill this afternoon.

Hacking a bit but bloody determined to do it and I feel better for it! I'm sure the cough is on the way out and not as much green stuff coming up now which is a bonus smile

As has been said, not quite ill enough to do nothing but not quite up to speed just yet. What is amazing is simply how many of our friends have exactly the same yes

I think I had it too, about 4 weeks ago, difficultly moving with a climax involving severe sinus pain.

Since recovering I developed severe double vision on waking n the mornings and significant visual disturbances thereafter. Went to the GP who kindly told me I could have multiple sclerosis (fking eek) but was more likely to be a post viral "thing". Since been seen by a consultant neurologist who says if you have a significant viral flu type illness the antibodies that kill it off can also damage parts of your nervous system. I'm slowly improving, the morning double vision has sorted itself but still see double when I look to the right and also got a bit of lingering vertigo type business going on.

I've to book in for a brain scan on Monday just to double check everything is ok.

Anyway, getting told you might have MS the week before Christmas is thoroughly ste, made me feel worse than the fking flu! In fact I'm thinking about giving the GP some feedback as unless you're pretty sure about something like that you should just keep it between you and your clinical note keeping FFS!!
