Anyone else broken ankle and elbow?
Discussion
I'm honestly really struggling. Never broken anything before, now I've gone and broken my right ankle and right elbow. fk me it hurts.
I came off my bike, but got back on and cycled the mile home, thankfully I was nearly finished. Had a shower, and walked to the doctors. Ended up at A&E, got an x-ray on both, then waited.
Went in to see the doctor, broken both of them. She wanted to plaster up the ankle, but that would have meant I would have to stay in, as I couldn't use the crutches. They managed to send me home in an air cast so I can put a little weight on the ankle. The problem being the husband is away until Wednesday.
Left hand stuff I wish I'd learnt before this happened:
How to get tablets out of the push packet things,
Open stuff,
Butter bread,
Text/type,
Wipe my arse.
Brush my teeth.
In so much pain right now

,Back in 1983, when I was thirteen, I comprehensively stuffed up my right elbow in a Judo match by dislocating it and breaking the joint and forearm bones. Five operations, pins and a huge plaster cast plus loads of physiotherapy have left me with a right arm that hasn't straightened beyond 45' since.
Suffice to say that I learnt how to do many of the jobs you mention with my left arm at an early age, and I still do.
It just takes perseverance and, in my case, necessity. There's only so long, or so many times, that someone is around to do 'the paperwork'.
Shopping trolleys with one hand are great fun. You have to make turns a little like a rally car. Later in life I used the same technique whilst carrying my son / daughter when they needed a cuddle in the supermarket.
Good luck with your recovery. You'll look back on this one day and laugh.
Oh, I forgot to add about the tablets. Face left hand upwards with the blister pack foil on your fingers and the tablet required inbetween the 'V' between your first two fingers. Push down on said tablet with your thumb, ejecting the tablet between the 'V'. Works for me.

I broke my radial head when I was 14 and had an arthroscopy on the elbow when I was 26.
At 38, It still gives me pain (it has been hurting this week) and the arm doesn't fully straighten.
Take whatever Physio is on offer and ask for an arthroscopy to clean out debris if there is any in there. They used to remove radial heads, this might have been preferable.

Mrs PBF is recovering from a broken elbow & foot after being run down by a cyclist (who then left false details ) - foot is now out of the air boot & she's walking well.
She needed a radial head replacement on the elbow - it's coming along but slowly. Top Tip: Physio, Physio & more Physio! You need to really work at it on elbows apparently but good recoveries are possible.
Good Luck!
