I've come to the conclusion that headaches must stem from my neck I think.

Whenever I try to click my neck in a backwards forward Motion, I'll get pain where the headaches usually are and sometime doing that develops into a bad headache.

Any idea why, and solutions?
Worth seeing you doc or a physio I've been having some low grade tension headaches for a while, I'm also having issues with my upper back shoulders and neck(sometime if I roll my neck it sounds like Rice Krispies!).

I've also just discovered from the dentist I'm grinding my teeth which apparantly can lead to the symptoms I'm having.

Do you suffer from stress or anxiety? I've had issues in the past and while I feel fine now I think my muscle problems are linked to it in some way.

The hard bit is trying to get a definitive answer to what's causing it.

The rice crispies thing is exactly how mine sounds occasionally. I never knew how to explain it!

By grinding your teeth, do you mean in your sleep?

I don't think I suffer from anxiety or stress, no, I'm positive it's todo with my neck area, so Maybe I need a masseuse!

Yes in your sleep didn't know I was doing it! Dentist noticed I had teeth marks on my tongue so I'm getting a mouth shield to wear at night.

I had a sports massage around my neck and shoulders which helped a lot with the headaches and crunchy neck but didn't seem to stop it coming back after a few days so going to try and get a physiological to have a look and maybe push to get a MRI done to find out for sure.

Think that's the way I'm headed. Rule it out for sure. A long term fix would be splendid though!

Had exactly your symptoms for months - prescribed amaltryptaline etc etc.

In was the muscles in my neck which where as tight as a drum that caused it - a few sessions with the Physio and it was all sorted. Utterly miserable few months before it was sorted though

This sounds like my issues I've been taking amaltryptaline although they were prescribed for IBS which is fine atm the doc sayed it's fine to use them to help with the pain.

It is quite a horrible pain not agony just really annoying and gnarly I find myself weirdly stretching to make it more painful but it make me feel better.

It made my life utterly miserable for months. Tried all manner of pain killers and any-depressants (as an atypical pain relief) changed my glasses and sunglasses, drank litres of liquid - I even had a CAT scan as I was convinced I had some
kind of serious neurological condition. I was utterly at my wits end.

Then half an hour on the physio table with a nice bloke sticking his thumbs into the muscles in my neck just under my ear and it started to go 1 3 more sessions over the next month and it never came back, The physio was painful - but never has "short term pain for long term gain' be so true. Changed my life

That certainly gives me hope. Got doctor appointment tomorrow so will see what she says but not sure it'll be much help. I'm hoping to get some free physio sessions out of it though!

My headache was mainly around the base of my skull. GP was fking useless - had me on co-codamol for weeks which will give you a headache over that period if you didn't already have one.

Pay to see a physio and get them to work your neck and shoulders over - they will be able to pinpoint any muscles carrying unusual tension straight away.

I can get free physio if done through GP biggrin

My headache is the very top of my skull right in the muffle, but moving my neck etc causes pain at the base on the back, which in turn brings pain to my temples and base frown

Not really my teeth but sometimes my tongue feels a bit swollen and sore and my jaw can be stiff.

Good luck at the docs.

Cricking neck.. I get some really interesting noises out of mine, getting them cricked properly (osteopath) does relieve a lot of tension up the sides of my neck, into base of brain area.

Recommend giving it a go, possibly combined with a heavy sports massage to try and get the muscles to relax a bit?

Someone else gets pins shoved into her back for fun, claims it relieves tension, she swears by it but it would drive me insane!

^ I tried acupuncture and it made it worse.
Mind you I should know better than to try something which has absolutely no medical proof of doing anything other than relieving you of money. Its up there with Homeopathy in the bullst stakes.

GP was useless. No new info. She believes it's chronic tension headache.

What do I need?

Sports massage? Neuromuscular Therapy?

I would go straight to physio I had a few sports massages and while they were great and gave me relief for a few days it didn't get rid of the issues.

I just explained my symptoms - chronic headache - suspect caused by muscle tension and it took them about 30 seconds to find the area to work on when I laid down on the table.
