Never really had any problems with my back but at the moment I get discomfort, not actual pain from the mid back area, it feels like it needs to click or something and sometimes when I move in a certain way I get sharp pain, it seems more the ribs than my spine to be honest.

Sneezing is not much fun either.

Any suggestions ? got a docs appt for next week.

I would probably go to a chiropractor.
That's what I did last time I had a similar problem.
A few cracks and crunches later and I was as good as new. smile

Wasn't all that fussed about the acupuncture but it made him happy.

Yep, chiropractor sorted me out aswell. Treatment consisted of some deep massage followed by Greek wrestling on the table ;-). Didnt know my spine and neck could "crack" like that. Went a few times and with some stretching and strengthening exercises it solved my back gripes....no doubt cause by poor posture. I still use some of the stretches she told me if my back starts to ache again.

I've been having mid/upper back issues for a while.I can't really work out exactly what's causing it as it effects my neck and shoulders also. Chiropractor was not much use, physio gave me better relief which suggests it's more muscular but it just keeps coming back.

Doctor was no use so I've gone private this week, appointment with neurosurgeon on Tuesday straight to MRI on Wednesday 8am the consultant thinks muscular also but wanted to get the spine and neck checked out hopefully get the verdict on Monday.

Ever had any pains right in the top of the leg? I mean deep in the arsecheek where the leg meets the hips? Do extremities of the body get colder quicker than you feel they should at all?

No, that doesn't ring any bells, it's mid back, it comes and goes, got the docs on weds and have private medical through work so will see if they will provide a chiropractor.

Am working through my aches and pains biggrin

Two fillings needing replacement, one done last week

Back

Oh, and I think I managed to get Cystitis from the hot tub at the gym, last time I go in there ! It's cleared up now thankfully

No worries, I went through all sorts of rigmarole trying to get to the bottom of my 'back' problem, pain radiated round the chest wall and the osteopath thought it was inflammation in spine back manifesting itself in different areas. One week it was my sternum, then my lower back, then next month my neck, then my shoulder. Eventually went to the doctors who sent me for a blood test, specialist asked me about the pain in the butt cheeks and it only occurred to me that I used to get it during my early/mid teens but hadn't really had it since.

Turns out I have ankylosing spondilitis and many go years even decades in different degrees of pain and discomfort before eventually being diagnosed.

Yep, and when you have AS you never ever forget it frown

Now (like you) when I read threads like this the first thing I think is AS. I didn't get diagnosed until I was 40. Damage is done now

Good fun isn't it? To be fair now I know what I'm dealing with it doesn't seem so bad, at least I know what I need to do to try and reduce the effects. As long as I excercise a couple of times a week I'm generally speaking not too bad, I find karate gives me the range of movements I need to loosen up. Pair of sheepskin slippers to keep the old feet warm and the odd dose of neproxen and it's manageable. Like you say though you just wonder about how many other poor buggers are out there with it that don't realise, even though there's no cure you would still rather know as not .

Do you have the usual typical symptoms of it?

Going for an Xray, doctor mentioned possible slight Scoliosis.

Its not that bad but it is stopping me doing stuff, cycled in fine, can walk for miles but am a bit wary of lifting weights of any, er weight.

Apparently I possibly have Osteopenia, a thinning vertebrae and possibly a compressed disk, sounds like fun.

More blood tests and a Dexa Scan incoming.

Mean to ask the doc what I could continue doing, should be ok walking, cycling and swimming, but though I will continue to do weights, not doing anything heavy.

Back to square one for me MRI came back clear so no further forward to why my upper back is siezed.

Had a few anxiety issues last year so is it that? Found a few stretches that help a bit but within a couple of hours I'm struggling again I'm not in agony but the tightness and slightly nervy sensation is driving me bonkers.
