Phat Fighters Q2
Discussion
Picked up silver in my category over the weekend, (weighing in at 95.15), then proceeded to have an epic weekend of eating including Pizza Hut, Bodypower and Cadburys World!
Net result was 97.3 this morning which actually isn't all that bad since I'll drop a kilo or so in water quite easily. I have another competition on Sunday where I need to be sub 97.5 so don't want to drop too much but it's nice to already be under a week before!

Not too late to join this I hope
5'7, 41 and 103kg at the start of February. Down to 89kg on the 2nd April and 87kg this morning (although Sunday is my usual weigh-in day). Would like to get down to about 75kg which is where I was at the end of 2009.
Diet's been going well. I reckon, using the MyFitnessPal app I'm consistently in the 1200-1400 calorie range and on work days I'm walking about 5 miles. I've also started cycling again after an almost 20 year hiatus. The past week I've been on leave working in the garden including 4 days of heavy landscaping and I got three 10-15 mile bike rides in so the weight's been falling off.5'7, 41 and 103kg at the start of February. 83.5kg this morning which means, I think, that in old school terms I think I've lost 3 stone in almost exactly three months.

Had my cheat day for the last 2 weeks on Saturday which also involved an Indian and 4/5 pints weighing in heavier at 124.1 but I expect that's all good and drink weight and will slip off over the rest of the week
Yeah, it will, My issue in the past in that I would go daft at weekend and not that careful through the week, as it is at the moment I go up from 14.8 to 14.10 over the weekend and then back down, in the past I was less careful through the week so it used to creep up.
Anyway, I have decided, from June 1st am going for it, no booze, hammer the gym, no crap until I get to my target weight, am so close now, only a stone to drop, have got too comfortable at this weight but I am not finished, not ready to just maintain, will give me nine weeks until we go away, should be able to get a stone off by then and keep up with the gym, did a booze free month for Jan, wonder if I can do nine weeks, cant see why not.

i'm with you. been much too ill-disciplined since i went on holiday. creeping back to drinking all three weekend nights (yes, sunday night as well), need to do another dry month, or six weeks to kick. Holiday in August, means new holiday clothes and I want to buy medium! My issue in the past in that I would go daft at weekend and not that careful through the week, as it is at the moment I go up from 14.8 to 14.10 over the weekend and then back down, in the past I was less careful through the week so it used to creep up.

Mind if I jump in? Not usually one for comparing notes but you all seem like a good bunch and its a very interesting thread.
I'm 183cm and for the last few years been hovering around 105/106 kg. Working away from home a lot doesn't help in terms of food/booze but also getting the time to exercise. I started beginning of April with small steps - mainly portion control, no booze (or very little) at home, trying to stick with grilled fish and salad etc when staying away for head office visits. (London stay overs are more difficult in that respect due to client entertainment etc). Avoiding snacks etc in the evening. I'd like to get down to 95kg as a first step, sustain it, then try for more.
Beginning of April I was 106.2kg
Weighed myself on the weekend and I was 104.1
not much of a change but at least it's in the right direction and I don't feel like I've fully committed yet.
Next thing is to get back in the gym. From past experience I know that weight training really works for me in terms of my metabolism, posture and motivation. The difficult part is how hungry I get afterwards but as I really dont like the idea of killing myself to burn off extra calories with cardio etc I'm more motivated not to consume too much in the first place. I'll be getting as much walking etc in while I'm travelling if I'm staying in places where there is no gym.
How often are you guys weighing yourselves? I normally do once a week but tend to pay more attention to how my clothes are fitting.
I'll update once a week on here I guess.
Good luck all!

Hi Max,
Welcome aboard, everyone is welcome and undoubtedly there will be a fat fighters Q3 you can continue into!
I personally weigh myself every day since it works for me and I can deal with the sometimes big fluctuations without being put off. For example on Friday I was 95.1, Monday morning 97.3 and this morning 96.3. I also find it keeps me accountable throughout the week and motivated for the gym, although weekends have been a bit of a blowout lately!
I like to think we have a supportive bunch in here, many of us carrying on from the Q1 challenge. Fred has kindly agreed to put together the graph, I'm sure when he sees this he will add you to it

Weighed myself this morning, down to 15st 0lbs 4oz from my starting weight of 16st on 31st March - not bad to have lost (nearly) a stone in 6 weeks. As I said up the thread, my reason for doing it - a heart attack at 44 - somewhat focuses the mind.
The one thing I thought I would miss is a couple of weeknight glasses of wine - every night. It had become a middle-class habit for 10 years, "ooh, go on then, just a glass of wine with dinner" had morphed into at least two large glasses every night. I'm surprised how easy I have found it to kick that to the kerb Mon-Thurs nights. I now drink at home only Fri/Sat/Sun, and then in reduced quantities to before. Wife makes my lunch: chicked, salad and avacado wrap, some houmous and carrots, a bit of fruit. I've estopped constantly snacking on biscuits and crisps and (at home at night) some cheese and biscuits. I do miss the odd bit of cheese!
The best news is that I have three pairs of Ted Baker jeans that I absolutely love - I've got a bit of an obsession with jeans (once owned 27 pairs!!) and these are my favourites that I stopped fitting into 4 years ago, but couldn't face lobbing them out. I pulled a pair on on Saturday morning and they fitted with room to spare. It was a bit of a moment - in my 44 years on this planet I've never lost any weight, jsut steadily being creeping up and up and up as I've got older.
Got a bit of a cheat week this week - meeting an old mate for a few beers and seeing a band on Thursday, then meeting some pals for a curry on Friday, one that I was trying to arrange the night I had my heart attack. Gonna lay off anything with a sauce, Chicken Tikka and boiled rice for me!

Thanks for adding me to the graph Fred, I'll try to send my figures in KGs in future if I can!
Wife is old-school thoughm and wants our digital scales in imperial, there is no easy way of switching them over without getting the battery compartment off and removing all batteries to toggle the switch - a ridiculous design if ever I saw one!

Not been too bad food wise but cock all interest in exercise this week, and been a bit bad, not by standards of old but had my dinner (Spag Bol made by my own fair hand) then found a packet of Belvita breakfast biscuits and some nutty cereal bar, was nodding off in the chair, fell kind of ill without the feeling ill bit.
Just checking in to add that I have a recurrence of a kidney problem so exercise is out until the antibiotics have dealt with it. I hopped on the scales this morning, 111.7kgs so happy at that considering a total lack of activitity for the past two weeks; even standing up/sitting down/moving about has been very painful and I'm no wimp when it comes to pain tolerance.
14.9 as usual...someone told me I need to put weight on today, which is bizarre at 20 percent bodyfat, think he is just used to my 17 to 18 stone range look.
One discovery I have made is a Protein shake for breakfast with some oats in, 2 scoops powder, half milk half water and one of oats keeps you going for ages, had it at 8 o clock and no feeling of hunger until about one, prob about 400 calories, dead easy to do, fairly cheap and if you get the right flavour, lovely. 400 cals of cereal and I would be climbing the walls by 11 am, its kind of about calories but equally important is the duration it keeps you satiated, if you have the breakfast cereal and then need a bag of crisps mid morning that is 150 calories you could possibly had avoided if you had gone with the Protein option.
