Another factor that hasn't been mentioned is the advantages people have from using supplements, dodgy or not, to boost their strength.

Another factor is resilience to intensive training.

If I did thousands of pull ups in a month, my shoulders and elbows would disintegrate.

I do weighted press ups and pull ups but nowhere near the numbers you guys are talking about. Literally single figures!

I'm 45 and 89 kilos and need to eat more doughnuts.

Just squeaked out 20 fighter pull-ups to chest.
Then I did my back routine

Heh!

I reckon Hal wins.

Where's the Smiffster? Assuming an uninjured state, wonder how many he could do?

shout Yo Smiffster!

He can do them with 150kg, which is not quite bodyweight, unfortunately.

Eh? You've kinda lost me there.

So you're saying Smiffy can do assisted pullups to the equivalent of 150kg ?

It was a very bad joke at his expense, suggesting he weighs more than 150kg so cannot do any.

I'll get my coat.

This mornings efforts (all palm in variation):

6 x unweighted
5 x +5kg
3, failed on 4 +10kg

Definitely seeing progress considering a single set of 5 unweighted was a struggle a couple of weeks ago.

The weight will go up very quickly, it's easier to add weight then it is to add reps in my experience. My weighted pullup work out (last week at least) is as follows:

5 x body weight
5 x 12.5kg
5 x 15.5kg
5 x 22.5kg
5 x 27.5kg
10 x body weight
10 x body weight

Every week (3 workouts worth) I stick another 1.25kg plate on. My aim is to be able to do 5 x 100lbs (45kg). I can just about do one at that weight but it's the world's stest pullup. I'd like to do 5 x 100lb as though it's nothing.......

13 pull ups (possibly more now I deadlift heavy).

93 push ups in 1 minute was my PB.

Out of interest, those who are achieving high reps / additional weight - what are your deadlift numbers? and also what accessory work would you recommend (assuming lat pull downs - anything else?)

As a heavier guy (95kg) I like to think my DL is reasonable (although it will pale into insignificance compared to others) it's just making that performance translate into pull ups etc.

For starters my max DL is 227.5kg. Recently I've lost 15kg in bodyweight which has knocked that number down to 215kg but obviously helped with the pullups!
