I wonder if Thor will be the 'strongest man' never to win the title, they showed a clip of some black American dude who holds that honour from the 90's(?)

Would be good to see Brian get a 5th title though
6 times podium finisher! I remember OD Wilson, he was a huge fat guy who had extreme static strength but couldn't move, and then whined about how if there was no running then he'd win, which is bullst frankly, powerlifting is that way! ---> strongman has always been about real world stuff, picking stuff up and moving it or shifting stuff for reps. It's what makes it great viewing, as opposed to powerlifting for me which is really boring. It's what makes strongmen great athletes, someone who can carry 300kg for a jog and then sprint 100m in 12 seconds.
Anyone see that huge African guy, called bobe or something in the heats, he did a cartwheel or a somersault, it was crazy!

I thought the judges decision disallowing Thors final viking press rep was wrong and consequently he should have won. Huge respect to the effort from all the competitors regardless, especially Eddie.
It’s called a Viking press not an overhead squat.

He should of won ! Why should he have won ? Do you not think he should of took Eddie on at the deadlift if he wanted to beat him , or maybe out rep him on the log lift or squat ?

Iron Biby

As for being stacked in Ed's favour, not really.
3 static and 3 moving events. Thor/Brian fked up and Eddie didn't, he wasn't even doing too well after 1st couple of events point wise, just stayed consistent throughout.

And that's the thing, stay consistent, that's how Pudz did it, he wasn't the strongest at any specific thing.
Brian was just off and not good enough. It was between Thor and Eddie, and Eddie outclassed THor in press and dead, that's it. If Thor's rep had been allowed, Eddie would have done more, that is obvious. Eddie is the first Brit for over a decade to have pressing power, which is why he is the first Brit since Taylor to win it.
Thor owns stones and pulls, so not sure why anyone would think the events were Eddie favoured, though that line of argument crops up every so often. The real answer is, don't have a weakness, lack of pressing power has denied Hollands/Larry for years.

Just watching the Eddie story on Spike tv,I suggest you do to.
Regarding this lift, the referee admits to allowing Thors 3 lifts that should have been chalked off !

Btw,what is it with Thors mouth, has it always been like that ? I've not noticed before.Looks like he's had a stroke or something

Eddie could have done a couple more if needed.

Wonder what the future holds for him; will he be back to defend his title, or will he be going back to spend more time with his family? I have a feeling that he won't be happy with just the one title. Think he will be quietly wanting to be the best british strongman, which will mean another 2 titles.

He's going to be competing this year in British and European competitions but reckons he's 99% certain to be commentating at the Worlds

I worked with a bloke who had it. Paralysed half his face for 3 or 4 months, but once it cleared up he was back to normal.

Really pleased Eddie won (even if it was back in the summer).
I’m not sure about him coming back. It seems like he was doing it because he was driven to achieve his goal. Not doing because of love for the sport. The sacrifices to his health and home life were the price he paid to get what he wanted.

He said at the end of the show 1 win and out.

He did used to say before this too that once he’d one he’d pack in the serious competition so he could spend more time with his family and also that he accepted be his size and competing wasn’t good for his long term health. Talked of dropping from his 27-30st weight now to about 20.

A no-brainer, in my view. Why kill or cripple yourself just to win a trophy you’ve already won once. He is fat even for a strong man smile

He's sitting around 26st currently and I think he plans to stay there for a bit. He seems to sit comfortably around there too.

He was up over 30 stone, though, wasn’t he?

There’s no doubt that he would not have lasted long at that kind of weight. His diet was fairly astonishing. Great for getting huge but not great for longevity.
