It used to fill me up all morning, I've been off it for a while but going to get back on it this week.
It makes me feel full, but I think I get hungry quicker. Perhaps it doesn't stay in the stomach as long as real food...?

From memory, once inside me it turned into huge, very smelly farts. Maybe it was the smell stopping me wanting to eat?

I don't see the need to mix in a blender unless you want to add extra ingredients.
If you mix with ice in a blender, you get rid of the graininess straight away (in my experience) without having to soak overnight.
I have to blend - maybe I’m too feeble to shake it properly but it stays gritty.
Quick blitz and it’s perfect.

On Black Edition, you do end up smelling like the grottier type of Cairo sewer in August for the first week or two.

My wife banished me to a spare bedroom such was the rancidity but it soon passes (to coin a phrase)...

I haven't had any Huel for a fair while as I haven't been eating breakfast at all, but all this talk of epic guffs is weirdly making me want to try the Black Edition just to see if it's true!

I'm too lazy for the extra washing up that comes with using a blender. I don't really notice the graininess now and it always gets a long soak as I make it the night before and take it to work with me.

The chocolate made with milk was very nice, a huge improvement on water. I tried a vanilla with a strawberry starter shot in it today and found it really nasty!

There was an episode recently of the BBC's Trust Me I'm A Doctor show that discussed Huel. I haven't seen it, but there's an article here that covers it.

Sip it. It's a bit gloopy so you'll struggle to down a jugful in one go. Personally I find all the flavoured ones a bit yukky so I just use the vanilla one & add other stuff to taste (cocoa, coffee, banana etc).

This ^^

Vanilla with coffee is ace, as is vanilla with frozen berries. Also 50% water and 50% oat milk gives it a nicer texture when wizzed in the machine.

I've got the starter pack of flavours to try. Do you think Apple Cinnamon will go better with the chocolate or vanilla? I had the strawberry with vanilla and didnt like it.

I'm thinking:

With Chocolate:

Peanut butter
Apple cinnamon
Chocolate (to make it super chocolaty)
Salted caramel

With Vanilla:

Mint chocolate
Mocha
Banana
Pumpkin spice
Berry

I get this too. I tend to have a pint of squash when I get peckish, as it can trick the stomach for a little while.

Or I have a snack.

I've been blending oats, (dried) fruit, berries and cocoa with water. No powder. This will replace breakfast and my morning snack and provide enough energy for swimming crawl half hour each morning, which I presume has built a bit of muscle while I have lost a few pound. I suppose the calories are what puts the hardcore off oats as a protein source but then fruit has virtually no protein.

It's time to replenish my Huel supply (I reckon I can live on Huel for a couple of months while the Coronavirus panic sweeps the nation) & the cost is a bit painful now as the bags seem to hold less yet cost more. I reckon ordinary Huel costs me £1.32 a serving & Huel Black would be £1.63. I had a look at the Myprotein site & with discounts I can get the Whole Fuel Blend for around 53p a serving:
https://www.myprotein.com/sports-nutrition/whole-f...

That's a big difference so I may well go back to it this time.

Just ordered some Huel Black, as I'm Type 2 Diabetic.

I used Slimfast for a while last year and lost half a stone - but my sugar readings doubled

So will give this a go...

The MyProtein Whole Fuel is quite similar to the original Huel (not the Black version) although it's a less 'gritty' & rather sweeter. I'm no expert but the ingredient list seems very similar so I couldn't see any compelling reason to stay with Huel. I'd like to try the Black version but that's even more expensive.

I got a bit fed up of the significant price increase combined with the reduction in recommended portion size to make it look like the cost per meal was around the same. It also annoyed me that they make basic information like how much Huel is in a bag (1.71kg of Original, 1.53kg for the Black version) difficult to find. I think the bags used to be 2kg when I first bought some but I can't be sure about that.
