Was about to order the Huel black coffee caramel.
Any genuine alternative for less money?
Not looking to lose weight but simply to get more calories in early morning.
Alarm is at 4.30am latest then usually grab a Greg's or w.e at 5.30am before work at 6.
Looking for something to shake up to drink on or before the drive/ride in.

I looked at that compared to Huel Black.

MyProtein is £1.20 per meal for 423 kCal, and 30g protein, 15g fat, 40g carbs.

Huel Black is £1.32 per meal for 400 kCal and 40g protein, 17g fat, 18g carbs.

There's not a lot in it, interested to see how you get on...

Whole Fuel is similar to Huel but a bit less gritty & a bit sweeter. I swapped to it some time ago.

Your costs are way out though as there are always deals on. At the moment you can buy 5kg of Whole Fuel for £32.98 as there is a 45% off deal on which equates to 66p per meal, assuming 100g portions. I've never had less than 30% off but 45% is a bit unusual.

No idea what it was, but I reacted very badly to Huel. Really painful stomach aches. Bought some fresh stuff, same result. Had to bin the lot !!

A very expensive experiment for me.

Thanks for that. Just bought 5kg of their vanilla fuel.

I’ve been skeptical of all these meal replacement things especially Huel but had some of the My Protein Whole Fuel Blend delivered today. 2 x 2.5kg bags one in vanilla raspberry and the other chocolate. At £18.89 per bag it works out to be ~76p per portion which seems reasonable.

I’m trying to shift some stubborn belly fat whilst building muscle however I’ve thrown a spanner into the mix with some recent dental work which makes eating my usual diet of grilled chicken and veg rather fiddly. Figured having a shake for lunch would make things easier in the short term.

Tried the vanilla raspberry and whilst I’m not a massive fan I guess it will do the job. Lets see how the chocolate one compares for lunch tomorrow

Just got the raspberry vanilla too. Not opened yet as still using and enjoying the chocolate MyProtein.

Got their shaker also and it’s much better than the Huel one , has a round metal spring? thing that you pop inside to break up and mix everything.

The Myprotein stuff is very sweet but I’m doing well with it.
Better texture than huel.
It does have a decent amount more sweetness added over huel though.

Got the chocolate one to try for lunch tomorrow. Hopefully it tastes better. The shaker seems like a standard protein one, I’m going to try a stick blender with mine tomorrow. I used a 99p Ikea milk frother for it today and it wasn’t powerful enough.

I didn’t find it sweet at all, if anything it was a tad sour for my tastes. Let’s see how the chocolate compares

I find the myprotein vanilla far too sweet. I don't have loads of sweet stuff so this may be part of the issue but it's undrinkable for me

I prefer the taste of huel but the cost of my protein smile

Currently mixing the 2 and having half and half of each. Works well for me and saves binning the myprotein

Chocolate one tastes nicer to me, the overall taste is still the same pea protein as the raspberry vanilla though.

500ml water, 100g powder in a protein shaker with a metal ball. Job done

I can’t hack water. Semi skimmed milk in a blender works well.

I’m used to water having used it for regular protein shakes, I imagine it would be more pleasant with milk but that doesn’t fit my macros

Just had my first delivery of Huel turn up today, they threw in some nutrition bars in for free, they taste ok.

I’ve bought it because, I work out, or walk, and I hoping this will improve my fatigue?

Would it be best to consume it shortly before exercise?

I’d be more inclined to have it post exercise since it gives you a handy hit of protein too however some folks may suggest pre workout. Try both and see how you feel?

My switch to myprotein has gone ok - want to try another flavour but for me its no better/worse than Huel and considerably cheaper.

I was passed some of the Thai Huel by someone who didn't like it - I will also be passing it on....

Also switched to my protein.

Much prefer flavours and texture of the my protein, but the price difference is the biggest plus for me.

I tried the vanilla myprotein and found it too sweet. Any recommendations on flavours.

The price differential is significant!
