Huel food. Any good?

On a side note anyone bought Huel or myprotein clothing? I have the Huel t-shirts and they are great , just purchased a couple of long sleeved marl effect t’s from myprotein and they seem good as well.

Still using the My Protein Whole Fuel Blend for my lunches on most days. Alternate between the raspberry vanilla and the chocolate. Both seem fairly neutral and not too sweet for my battered tastebuds. 500-600ml cold water and 100g of the powder in a shaker, job done.

Even tried one as my main meal before fasting for 14-15 hours with a 30g scoop of protein powder chucked in and it kept me satiated and fuelled up fine.

Still annoyed that I ordered it in the early hours of a Friday morning and less than 12 hours later they had a promo on that made it around £20 cheaper but wouldn’t let me cancel the existing order for a refund.

Worth keeping an eye out for discounts on weekends and around payday

Yeh I get emails every bloody single day it seems about discounts/half price/241 etc

Staerted my Huel just over 2 weeks ago, solids and snack bars (that they sent me for free), the first night I didn't sleep well, and had a strange smelling sweat? I smelt like damp bread... if you were ever put through the idea of a bread poultice as a child, I smelt like that frown

Anyway, 2 weeks in, I don't feel a lot different, but I have done a form of exercise every single day, I don't remember the last time I felt like doing that.

Boy is it expensive though...

How's everyone getting on with long term weight loss?

Just ordered my first couple of bags. Cheaper means of weight loss than carbon fibre, right?

Is anyone still doing this?

Looking for a way to stop eating loads of crap at lunch.

Not so much for weight loss / diet just keeping an eye on what I eat.

Does it really taste that bad?

Is it just as simple as two scoops mixed in water makes a 400 calorie lunch?

I've just signed up again as I'm doing a st load of activity but the weight isn't budging, so clearly it's down to what I'm eating. Have gone for black this time.

Huel got expensive so I moved to Myprotein.
Usually put some frozen berries in mine, blend for 10 seconds.

Difficult in this weather - none of them are pleasant when warm!

Prep in the morning and put it in one of the Sho/Super Sparrow metal insulted bottles (loads on Amazon), works like a dream, You do need a bottle brush to thoroughly clean it each day.

I spent a week hiking in Hong Kong just having Huel for lunch, prepped it in the hotel room at 6am and it was still lovely and cold by lunchtime despite 30c+ hiking.

We moved to Huel as a way of making sure we eat lunch properly whilst working. I have to say, after a few days of it, I do feel better. I found the Huel black a better taste, but the lower carbs does make a difference later on in the day.

We tried the hot meals and I actually do like them, except the Thai curry, it's tolerable, but just. It all does still have a "Huel" taste though.

I am considering Myprotein, however, Huel does work for both of us, but recently every thing has had massive price hikes...

On a side note, the T-shirt are really good. If I could get them without the branding the fit is really nice..

It really is that simple. 500ml plus two scoops.

I don't think it tastes that bad. Certain ones are better than others. Chocolate is good as is salted caramel but I didn't like banana, too chemically. Not overly impressed with cookies and cream tbh.

I'm 2kg down in less than a week.

But don't you effectively have to remain on this diet for the rest of your life, otherwise the weight quickly comes back once you start earing real food again? I worked with two ladies who were on a similar diet of basically just consuming shakes, as soon as they stopped and started eating normally again they piled the weight back on and were bigger than they were before the diet.

If you're using Huel in an effort to reduce energy intake then as with any diet that restricts calories excessively, the body adapts to lower its energy requirements and the more restrictive the diet the greater the adaptive thermogenesis. Unfortunately those adaptations can persist for years afterwards.

If you then return to eating a diet similar to that which caused weight gain in the first place... welcome to the world of yoyo dieting.

Not so much a problem specific to Huel, but rather calorie restricted semi starvation diets as a whole in combination with the issues around returning to "normal" food consumption afterwards.

The idea when successfully finishing a diet, is to go on the correct 2,500ish calories of food per day, not back to the 3,000+ that made you a fat in the first place.

Indeed, and I typically find 'real' food more filling than Huel, so as long as I monitor calorie intake it's easy to jump in and out of Huel without weight yoyoing all over the shop.

Experimented with ready made huel for 3 weeks. Personally found it ok, vanilla being better than chocolate or berry. At £3 a bottle it's not cheap but its cheaper than the meal deals next to it. Having gone down the instant route I will try the powder variety to see the comparison. It leaves you feeling full without being bloated and seems to reduce my craving for junk/sweets. I'm only replacing the working lunch with it so I'm still having a balanced breakfast and evening meal.

They've just started doing a wider range of clothing, the new t-shirts appear to only have a tiny logo on the sleeve hem.
