Experimented with ready made huel for 3 weeks. Personally found it ok, vanilla being better than chocolate or berry. At £3 a bottle it's not cheap but its cheaper than the meal deals next to it. Having gone down the instant route I will try the powder variety to see the comparison. It leaves you feeling full without being bloated and seems to reduce my craving for junk/sweets. I'm only replacing the working lunch with it so I'm still having a balanced breakfast and evening meal.
I found that the ready made shakes weren't too appealing, I only got them as part of the starter bundle deal. The black edition salted caramel powder was ok in 250ml doses but wasn't very filling. 500ml wasn't palatable.

The savoury options are good because they are like a healthy Pot Noodle, however, they get boring quite quickly too. I'd like a chicken flavour savoury option.

I don't use Huel for weight loss, only for a healthy, convenient, time saving option.

Same for me really, if I'm stuck on time before work I'll take one as it's probably better than eating meal deals out of Tesco.

Give me a meal deal for £3 over Huel anyway smile

Which of the MyProtien products are you all using for weight loss, is it the meal replacement blend shakes?

I'm not sure if many here are using these products for weight loss, specifically, more so as a quick and easy healthy meal replacement with the added benefit that it's very easy to monitor calorie intake.

The MyProtein range is confusing (and incredibly cheap compared to Huel, it's impossible not to find at least 40% off!). I used 'Whole Fuel Blend' for a during lockdown to replace one meal per day and didn't notice any difference compared to Huel, apart from saving a huge chunk of cash. They now seem to have a 'Be Nu' range too.

I just managed to pick up one of the starter packs off Facebook market place...

Mexican Chilli Food - one scoop removed
Huel Black Salted caramel - sealed
x 1 banana drink
x 1 choc drink
x 2 choc bars
Shaker
Hot Food Container
T Shirt.

£20.

If I don't like it it's no major loss, but at least i'll know!

ETA: Just had the ready made banana shake for lunch - actually really nice, like a thick banana yazoo...

Does the powder stuff not taste like the ready made?!

We moved to Huel as a way of making sure we eat lunch properly whilst working. I have to say, after a few days of it, I do feel better. I found the Huel black a better taste, but the lower carbs does make a difference later on in the day.

We tried the hot meals and I actually do like them, except the Thai curry, it's tolerable, but just. It all does still have a "Huel" taste though.

I am considering Myprotein, however, Huel does work for both of us, but recently every thing has had massive price hikes...

On a side note, the T-shirt are really good. If I could get them without the branding the fit is really nice..
I thought they were nice too, label in mine at the time was “Gildan” and they sell them on Amazon for about £4 each so got a load in!

I find the flavour is the same, but the texture of the ready made makes them taste much better.

Salted caramel black today - made at home from the powder - did it first thing & stuck in the fridge since then.

Gave it a very vigorous shaking and it was actually pretty good.

I've nearly finished my bag of black salted caramel, but find it a bit sickly. I've gone for chocolate and vanilla for the next batch. I also have black cookies and cream which I'll not be ordering again.

This stuff however..... game changer.

Had my first couple of Huel RTDs at the weekend, usually have something along those lines when working at a wedding but ran out of my usual supplies (grabbed it from Sainsburys). I found I can actually get a better flavour/consistency balance with the powder and making it myself. The chocolate in particular was too strong and thick for me.

For me it's by far the worst of any of the RTDs I've tried. Saturo is my favourite, not had a bad flavour from their range yet, Mana also pretty decent. I usually hold out for a decent offer on Amazon on either of those which brings them well below the £3.20 a bottle being charged for Huel in shops.

I've not tried This Is Food yet as I've not seen it drop below £3.20ish for 500ml.

I've been using YFood (This is Food) RTD's for a while now - their RTD's are massively better tasting than Huel imo, a proper creamy milkshake.

Not cheap, but nor is my local sandwich shop/van etc.

I just ordered the Huel Bundle. Seems reasonable value given how many meals you get. Shaker and a aT Shirt thrown into the deal.

I would find the idea to live on astronaut food very depressive. I am doing very revolutionary innovative insta influencer kind of thing like "buying carrots from the market" or "eating an apple". Maybe I should offer myself a (branded) tshirt as a reward.

Very, very few people are living on Huel (or alternatives), it's possible and apparently perfectly safe, but given the cost of it now I can't see a huge benefit from doing so.

Plenty of us have it to replace a meal a day (either every day or ocassionally). For example when I'm shooting a wedding I often have about 5 minutes in the car (if I'm lucky) to have a lunch break. I used to chuck down a chocolate bar and a banana moving between venues, with Huel/whatever I get a decent, balanced 'meal' that easily keeps me going till whatever time they have the wedding breakfast.

There are more alternatives - instead of a chocolate bar(bad option) you can eat a lot of other things, such as an apple. Life is not that binary.

Even preparing a little snack/lunch box takes only a couple of minutes. Quiet time for reflection. And you know what you are eating, whereas in ready-mixed liquid "food" you cannot be sure.

But again - my lunchbox does not come in a cool b/w Arial bold font design bag with a t-shirt.

We get it, you don't see the point in it. For some of us it works. I have lost 10lbs in 3.5 weeks due to Huel, it makes food choices much easier for a glutton like me, especially with shift work.

Bit odd to come onto a Huel thread and be critical..

I just read that there is a competitor called JAKE (also in all-caps). Is this going to end in a big turf war aka VHS vs Betamax vs. EAT vs. Pret vs. Merc vs. Beemer?

Bundle looks good. The pre made is a known entity but I've got the food and the powder drink option also. It'll be ideal for work as I'm at the mercy of fast food everywhere and what I found with the pre made was that it completely repressed my hunger. Ill have a decent meal and breakfast whatever day I have it so I'm not living like an astronaut.....
