Keto diet - anyone else?

Do you get bloated and/or gassy?
Might be a fructan intolerance.
Apparently roasting garlic well before eating can help.
Gassy with chronic stomach ache as well. The garlic cloves were fully cooked in tinfoil in the oven. The garlic 'paste' that came out of them was perfect.Might be a fructan intolerance.

Sprouts give me the same trouble and I adore them. They are a nice 'greens' addition for keto meals for your vit c too but within an hour I need to spend the rest of the day on the pot and shovelling Rennies in the other end .

You can have a food intolerance test, which involves drawing blood from your finger and submitting it to a lab for testing. It will show what foods you don't tolerate well.
However, food intolerance can be the result of a gut parasite, poor population of "good" bacteria or something called leaky gut. Functional stool testing is helpful in determining what is going on, though NHS stool tests can often miss significant things. Most GPs believe that every gut problem can be explained away as IBS. A comprehensive test can cost £350-400, but at the end of it you'll know your st, so to speak.
I don't think there is anything to 'heal'. I never get gut ache with any other foods so must be something specific to fresh (cooked) garlic. I can devour a garlic bread or anything else 'garlicky' without issues. Sprouts cause problems for thousands of people because they're 'gassy' so I don't thnk it's anything with me. I could quite happily live on sprouts with a dash of butter and black pepper but my gut says nope!
Feeling a bit peckish for a quick late night snack as I haven't had anything to eat since lunch. Browsing the contents of my fridge looking at the belly pork, chicken breasts, cheese, salami sticks etc and thinking 'meh' can't be arsed cooking and already had some cheese and packet of salami sticks earlier. Then I spotted the packet of 6 corner beef slices! Hmm, what to do with these? fk it! I've just tipped them onto a plate and added a dollop of tommy sauce. Done! Quick and dirty.

I love corned beef! Just watch the sugar/carbs on the ketchup though. Mayo ftw. ArsE92 said:

Mayo? With corner beef? Get out man! I'm aware of the carbs in ketchup but you'd have to put half of the bottle on for it to make any real difference. I always lather my cheese omelettes in (Sainsburys own brand) ketchup and it's not caused any issues that I've noticed.
Just checked on Sainsburys site and it's 19.9g of carbs per 100g . Heinz is 23.2g . Daddies brand is 27g per 100g - WTF! . Heinz do a No Added Sugar or Salt one which is only 5.7g per 100g so that would be best for us keto-ers but it's 5x the price of Sainsburys own brand big bottle.

I call it "Red sugar". Best avoided. And anyway it's revolting.
I've been doing low carb for a week, drinking 2-3 litres of water a day and managing to somehow stick to the veto balance of Fat, Protein and Carbs, but my good god, my stomach is killing me! Feels like its bloated?
I've just kind of come to the end of the nosey elements of the veto flu, but wondering why I am feeling bloated?
I was thinking of doing a 36 hour fast...

You often see people attributing it to a change in gut biome/biota - whatever it is, most go through it.
Unless it's particularly severe/uncomfortable just stick to it and you'll probably be fine in a week or two.
Thanks. Thats along the lines of what I thought it was, but wondered if anyone else had experienced it too.Unless it's particularly severe/uncomfortable just stick to it and you'll probably be fine in a week or two.
Looking forward to it passing.... not overly comfortable at the moment!
I have done a keto before on and off (since the 1980s in fact), but not for about 2 years.
When I first started I used to feel like crap until I entered ketosis; it was like a fog lifting Thursday lunchtime, having started the diet on Monday.
Over time, I was able to slip in and out of ketosis with no problem.
I expected to have trouble this time, but aside from a slightly light head I have noticed nothing. Whilst I haven't tested my urine, I am pretty sure I am in ketosis now.

Are you still carnivore?
I'm back full-carno after a couple of months low carb/keto and getting on way better this time. Less/no gurgling belly and regular 'movements'.
Yes. I had to "Go with the flow" a little over Christmas, but back strict since New Year's. Now you mention it, I've not noticed any gurgles this time. Kinda miss it. Maybe it was the peanut butter.I'm back full-carno after a couple of months low carb/keto and getting on way better this time. Less/no gurgling belly and regular 'movements'.
I will also try a few keto sticks over the weekend and see if I am still 'in', just out of curiosity.

Not normal, even for the transition period. Are you drinking when you are thirsty, or forcing it down because you think you should?feef said:
