I’m aware of that, thanks.ETA, that’s how it works in theory, anyway. The reality of what people on the keto diet put in their mouths is probably different. And again, keto diet is not a good idea for people with kidney problems due to protein intake.

Did my first marathon yesterday.
Came in at just under 6 hrs but that was more due to a groin strain rather than lack of energy or strength,
Night before I had duck with broccoli and a couple of small roast potatoes
On the morning, an hour or so pre-race, I had yoghurt with some granola.
During the race, I had some Aldi paleo bars which are (iirc) 34g fat and similar in carbs. I had one at 15k, 30k and 35k. Only stopped at one feed station to refill my water bottles.
Certainly wasn't eating as much or as often as many of the other runners I saw, and didn't feel hungry until about 7pm.

I ate st loads of fat, good amount of protein and almost no carbs, for two weeks, and I lost a lot of weight. How do you explain that? As nutritionist poster said above, the keto diet works like any other diet. It makes you pay attention to what you’re eating, and therefore probably the amounts you’re consuming.

I found it EASY to have a couple of 10k calorie days in a row and was still going to bed hungry. On the up side, recovery was quick and cravings disappeared after 2 strict days.

Pathetic As an example - I make my kids these oat/date flapjacks to take to school. I cut them into 300 cal portions - I never touch them. The dates send me sugar loopy and I go off the rails.
I had 6....for breakfast. And then 2 more cause hell they are good!
I also like a bit of ice cream....that night I had a Hagan Daz and a Ben And Jerrrys......but I like to jazz it up so I add a packet of dark chocky chips to each and a bit of caramel sauce. And instead of a spoon I use a twix......or two!
In between I ate a mid morning meal, lunch, tea, late tea and snacked.
Right now I'm 6ft6 and 12% BF.......with no effort AT ALL I could get back to my old 23 stone in a heart beat! Luckily I dont drink otherwise I'd be dead.
Talking of drinking - I have first hand experience of seeing someone go from fit and healthy "normal" person to alcoholic getting sectioned, tasered by police and loosing everything in between. The traits I saw in her addiction are so close to the ones I see in my food "issues" it's scary. Sugar addiction (for me) is VERY real.

Hmm, dark choc chips, caramel sauce and Twix with Haagen Dazs and B&J ice cream? Now you're giving me ideas!
I'd often grab a 4 pack of blueberry muffins and have 2 with each tub or sometimes a tin of half pears in syrup. Looking back it's no wonder I ended up at nearly 18 stone. On the rare occasion I've had a tub of HD since I started dieting I've just not enjoyed it like I used to do in the past - which is a good thing really as I don't get cravings for them again in the future. I've never been a fan of B&J ice cream as I find it overly sickly even for my sweet tooth, but when they're on offer for £2 for a big tub I just couldn't resist .

Here's how bad it got (and why I know have a BP fuel card that lets me pay by app instead of going inside the garage)....
Last summer I left the house at 9am with a day of driving ahead to see clients all over the place. I'd had a nice healthy bowl of porridge (with honey and choc chips) so I wouldn't need to eat till lunch.
At 9.05am I am in the garage as the car is empty of fuel.
I now find myself waiting to pay for the fuel. I have also picked up:
2 Ritter marzipan bars (man I love these)
Box of hazelnut whirls (thats 1 item right? Even though there's 3 in a box?)
M&S Hazelnut caramel bar (gluten free but yummy heavy)
Pork Scratchings
Frys mint creme bar (old skool baby)
M&S Tripple sandwhich (got to rock that savoury)
I get to the till and tell her the pump - she says "£5 of fuel"
I had no idea I only had £5 of fuel - I know I needed a full tank. Why £5????
I'LL TELL YOU WHY!!!! My subconscious sugar addicted worse half inner voice had, without me being aware, put in £5 so that I'd need to fill up again after the first meeting in order to get to the next one - thus allowing for a snack re-stock!!!!
And I did.....at 11am.
And had lunch (and mid-afternoon snack, and dinner when home, and TV snack)
Probably did 15k calories and went to bed hungry. Woke up the next day and booked in for my first tattoo as, for some reason, I figured a tattoo on a fat 45 year old arm would look gross so I'd work out to keep it looking good. Arm ink has now been added to 4 times since then but looks like it's made from steel

Feel great and body fat is still slowly but steadily reducing. December 2018 my scales reported 19.3% and currently 16.7%. Weight was 77.4 kgs, now 73.1kgs. I'm 186cm (6'1"), 57 next month.
My yoga's going well, energy abundant and mentally feel as sharp as I've ever been. +20 years of a bad back has gone and I get no aches or pain post lifting, though I'm not getting to the gym as often as I ought.
Overall, it's working well for me.

I'm over nine months now since my 30 day trial. I feel the same as on keto. Weight is 5kg lower than my stable keto weight, though I eat more in kcals. BF maybe 12%. It would be less if I could work out what "half a pack" means. Some willpower required, I think.
And I swear the scar on my thumb that I've had for 25 years is actually starting to disappear!
